Job description

Job Summary Revised: 6/17/2026 This position is responsible for repairing and replacing tires on county vehicles and equipment. Major Duties Changes flat tires on county trucks, vehicles, and equipment. Responds to field breakdowns; changes flat tires in the field.

Patches and repairs damaged tires. Balances tires using related equipment. Prepares daily work order reports for all services performed.

Cleans and maintains tools and work areas. Disposes of damaged and worn tires in accordance with applicable procedures. Responds to after-hours emergencies.

Performs any other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures. Knowledge of the repair and maintenance of vehicle and equipment tires.

Knowledge of county vehicle and equipment tire characteristics. Skill in the operation of job-related diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools. Skill in the repair and maintenance of a wide variety of tires.

Skill in analyzing problems and identifying solutions. Skill in performing mathematical calculations. Skill in interpersonal relations.

Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language. Minimum Qualifications Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Must have at least one ( 1 ) year of related experience. Supplemental Information Complexity/Scope of Work The work consists of related tire repair duties. The variety of vehicles and equipment to be maintained, combined with inclement field conditions, contributes to the complexity of the position.

The purpose of this position is to repair and replace tires on county equipment and vehicles. Success in this position contributes to the provision of a safe and operable fleet. Physical Demands/Work Environment Occasionally Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.

Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces. Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.

Driving a county vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business. Working in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind. Working in noisy environments.

Working in hazardous conditions. Working in poor ventilation. Working in small and/or enclosed spaces.

Working in adverse environmental conditions is expected. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. Medium work that includes carrying objects up to 50 pounds.

Heavy work that includes carrying objects up to 100 pounds or more. Constantly Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Communicating with others to exchange information.

Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Operating machinery and/or power tools. Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.

Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. Working in low temperatures. Working in high temperatures.

Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds. Other Requirements/Information Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license. The Webb County Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this position.

Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and a criminal background check are required. This position is covered by Civil Service; therefore, it is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies. Valid Texas Driver's License* *If the applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver's License must be obtained prior to employment.
