Title: Medical Device Test Engineer (Networking & Security Focus) - 2 Openings
Location: Onsite in Deerfield, IL
Duration: 7+ Months

Job Summary
  • We are seeking a hands-on Test Technician to execute testing activities that validate and verify both physical and digital client medical products.
  • In this role, you will work closely with Test Engineers to run test scripts, follow detailed test procedures, and document results across a wide range of products — including hardware devices, software applications, and connected systems.
  • This position is critical in ensuring client products meet performance, quality, and regulatory expectations before they reach customers and patients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocols
  • Experience with basic networking, security principles, and ethical hacking
  • Knowledge of VPN extranet setup
  • Not seeking junior-level candidates; minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience required
  • Hands-on experience in medical device testing
  • Validation or QA Engineers will be considered
  • Require IT-focused testing experience
  • Familiarity with defect tracking systems such as JIRA, Selenium, or Jama (TestRail is not required)
  • Automotive industry experience is needed
  • Experience working with device bridge platforms and Office 365
  • Strong attention to detail (OCD-level precision preferred)
  • Experience with STC systems, infusion pumps, or similar medical products
  • Ability to visually inspect and understand the product function and usability
  • This role is fully onsite in Deerfield, IL

Test Execution
  • Execute test scripts, protocols, and procedures created by Test Engineers to validate client medical products.
  • Perform testing on both physical hardware devices and digital software solutions, including mobile apps, embedded systems, and cloud-connected products.
  • Operate in simulation environments to replicate real-world usage scenarios, including high-volume usage, network variability, and security conditions.
Test Documentation
  • Accurately record test results, observations, defects, and anomalies in accordance with quality and regulatory guidelines.
  • Work within test management tools and systems to track progress and report findings.
  • Provide feedback to Test Engineers to support script or test procedure improvements.
Equipment & Environment Management
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot test equipment, devices, and lab environments.
  • Perform basic configuration of test systems, including software installations, network connections, and hardware setup.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in daily test team activities, stand-ups, and defect review meetings.
  • Support investigations of test failures by capturing detailed logs, screenshots, or device traces.
  • Follow the client’s Quality Management System (QMS) processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electronics, Computer Science, Biomedical Technology, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured test procedures.
  • Experience working with both hardware and software products.
  • Comfortable using computers, test equipment, and basic networking tools.
  • Good networking background.
  • Ability to clearly document test results and communicate findings.
Preferred:
  • Experience testing in a regulated environment (medical devices, pharma, etc.).
  • Familiarity with testing tools and defect tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
  • Basic understanding of network environments, security concepts, or device connectivity testing.
  • Working knowledge on VPN extranet setup, experience working with automated test systems or executing automated test scripts.
