Title: Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Medical Assistant
Schedule: 2rd shift 4pm-2am, Full-time, every other weekend, includes some holidays
Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital is looking for a highly motivated, highly skilled individual to join our team. We provide 24-hour emergency service and specialty referrals in surgery. We are looking for technicians and assistants who want to utilize their skills to the fullest potential in a fast paced, fun, and stimulating environment.
Our services are expanding, and we are currently seeking qualified technicians or assistants for our second shift emergency and ICU team. This role functions with a great deal of autonomy and responsibility; solid technical skills, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and with a team are required.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Provide nursing care to critically ill hospitalized patients in conjunction with specialty and emergency veterinarians
  • Participation in nurse rounds
  • Triage incoming patients presenting on emergency
  • Assess patient stability and obtain patient vital signs
  • Perform diagnostics and treatments of emergency and hospitalized patients
  • Perform hourly patient assessment and monitoring
  • Observe patients and recognize changes in status
  • Place peripheral and central catheters
  • Restrain patients for exams and treatments
  • Set up and administer IV and SQ fluids
  • Maintain urinary catheters
  • Bandage removal and application
  • Perform suture and drain removal
  • Perform drug dose calculations for injectable medications and CRIs
  • Administer injectable medications (IV, IM, SQ)
  • Administer other medications (PO, OU, AU)
  • Maintain isolation protocols for infectious patients
  • Basic wound cleaning and care
  • Administer injectable and inhalant anesthesia
  • Monitor patients while under anesthesia and maintain a monitoring log
  • Monitor patients during recovery from anesthesia
  • Obtain samples for and perform in house laboratory testing
  • Assist in CPCR

Job Requirements:
  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of veterinary experience (emergency experience required)
  • Current RVT in NC or eligible for NC registration (preferred, but not required)
