About the role
Concept Plus is seeking an Automated Test Engineer (Lead) to provide senior technical leadership supporting Air Force IT systems across development and operations, driving automated testing strategies, frameworks, and quality engineering practices.
This role requires knowledge and understanding of Air Force IT processes and technology stack (DevSecOps CI/CD, Cloud One, Oracle, Java). Air Force systems are deployed in classified and unclassified environments in DISA and Cloud.
The Automated Test Engineer (Lead) provides thought leadership in modernizing and enhancing Air Force systems through advanced test automation and quality engineering practices and serves as a primary interface with the customer and Program Management Office (PMO).
The Automated Test Engineer (Lead) manages and coordinates quality engineering and automated testing efforts across capability delivery teams, including development Scrum teams, Cloud Engineering, and DevSecOps Platform resources.
What you'll do
  • You will design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and suites, ensuring the quality and reliability of software delivered for mission-critical DoD applications
  • You will work closely with software engineers, systems engineers, and government customers in an Agile environment embedded alongside a major defense prime
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and issues.
  • Analyze test results to understand system behavior under different loads.
  • Provide actionable recommendations based on test findings.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks, scripts, and suites supporting system-level, integration, and regression testing of mission planning software
  • Experience with containerized test environments
  • Lead the automated test strategy for the team, defining best practices, tooling standards, and test coverage approaches
  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures aligned with system requirements and user stories
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous quality assurance and rapid feedback
  • Perform root-cause analysis on test failures and work with developers to resolve defects quickly
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to derive testable requirements and ensure traceability from requirements to test cases
  • Support test environment setup, configuration, and maintenance, including containerized test environments
  • Produce and maintain test documentation including test plans, test reports, and traceability matrices in compliance with DoD standards
  • Mentor junior team members in automated testing techniques and tools

Required Qualifications
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain a Secret Clearance
  • DoD 8140 intermediate certification or DoD 8570 IAM Level II certifications or higher
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field; or equivalent practical experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in software quality assurance and automated test development for the DoD, Air Force preferred.
  • Develop test environment setup, configuration, and maintenance, including containerized test environments.
  • Experience writing test scripts in Python, Java, or similar language

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Agile development teams of 20+ FTEs and be familiar with Agile methodologies.
  • Prior experience working on DoD or defense contractor programs, particularly with large primes
  • ISTQB certification or equivalent quality assurance credentials
  • Experience working in Agile and DevSecOps environments
