Territory Sales Manager – DC & Northern Virginia

About 7 Locks Brewing

7 Locks Brewing is an independent craft brewery committed to producing exceptional beer and building authentic relationships throughout our community. We're looking for an energetic, self-motivated sales professional who is passionate about craft beer and thrives on developing new business.

This role is responsible for growing sales across Washington, DC and Northern Virginia through a combination of direct account management and distributor partnership.

Position Summary

The Territory Sales Manager is responsible for increasing draft and package sales, expanding retail placements, and strengthening relationships with on- and off-premise accounts throughout the assigned territory.

The territory operates under two different sales models:

  • Washington, DC: Direct sales and self-distribution. You will manage customer relationships from initial sale through ongoing account support.
  • Northern Virginia: Work closely with our distributor partner to drive market growth through ride-withs, account development, programming, and execution.

Success in this role requires someone who enjoys being in the market, building relationships, identifying opportunities, and representing the 7 Locks brand with enthusiasm and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Territory Development

  • Develop and execute a territory sales plan to achieve revenue and distribution goals.
  • Identify and open new on-premise and off-premise accounts.
  • Grow volume within existing customer base through relationship management and account planning.
  • Maintain a regular schedule of customer visits.

Washington, DC (Self-Distribution)

  • Sell directly to bars, restaurants, retailers, and other accounts.
  • Manage customer ordering and replenishment.
  • Coordinate product deliveries with internal operations.
  • Merchandise accounts and ensure proper product presentation.
  • Install and maintain point-of-sale materials as needed.

Northern Virginia (Distributor Market)

  • Build strong working relationships with distributor sales representatives and management.
  • Conduct regular market visits and ride-withs.
  • Identify opportunities for new placements and distribution gains.
  • Support distributor programming, promotions, and events.
  • Monitor execution and ensure brand standards are maintained in market.

Brand Representation

  • Represent 7 Locks Brewing at festivals, beer dinners, tastings, and industry events.
  • Conduct staff trainings and product education with retail and restaurant partners.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the craft beer industry and competitive landscape.

Administrative

  • Maintain CRM and sales activity records.
  • Prepare weekly sales reports and pipeline updates.
  • Track territory performance against established goals.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of beverage, brewery, wine, spirits, or consumer packaged goods sales experience preferred.
  • Experience working with distributors is highly desirable.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently in the field.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift and move cases of beer (up to 40 lbs.) for merchandising and sampling.
  • Passion for craft beer and the independent brewing industry.

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission
  • Expected first-year total compensation: $65,000–$70,000+
  • Significant upside through uncapped commission based on territory growth
