Job description


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review applications to understand technical requirements and recommend appropriate products that meet or exceed technical requirements.
  • As a technical contact, assure that product applications do not exceed design and performance specifications for the product.
  • Perform engineering calculations and present results including pipe properties, design verifications, flow mechanics and pipe sizing.
  • Review industry specifications and check compliance as per project requirements.
  • Provide engineering support for internal and external customers including Sales, Field Service, Distributors, and End Users.
  • Prepare technical packages for tenders and organize the technical tender documents. This includes exceptions and clarifications to the tender specifications.
  • Provide technical training and presentations to employees, distributors, and customers.
  • Develop and maintain technical information in product literature, assuring published parameters are commensurate with ongoing QC test results and manufacturing practices.
  • Visit job sites to resolve technical issues with design, installation and field failures and to develop a working relationship with customers' key technical staff.
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Analyze product issues and field incidents.
  • Develop, verify, and implement product design and manufacturing solutions to satisfy a variety of market requirements.
  • Participate "hands on" in lab and manufacturing environment.
  • Participate in product testing and qualification as per industry standards.
  • Design and draft models and drawings for the machine shop, providing technical support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • 3 to 5 years of experience related to oil field and/or piping & pipelines.
  • Relevant experience with nonmetallic/composite materials and piping.
  • Possess technical aptitude and ability to understand engineering, design and product performance issues.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Adequate verbal, written and analytical skills with a professional and helpful demeanor.
  • Computer literacy using Microsoft Office Suite, MathCad, Autodesk Inventor/Solid Works or similar modelling software.
  • Available for overnight & international travel

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires local travel. Work may require evening and weekend work.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science from an accredited college or university
