Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine
Job Summary
The successful candidate will contribute to the College's tripartite mission of teaching, research, and service, with a primary focus on teaching veterinary students, graduate students, and graduate veterinarians in all aspects of small animal internal medicine. Clinical service responsibilities will be primarily within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), providing high-quality, compassionate care for patients while engaging students in hands- on learning.
Essential Job Duties
  • Deliver engaging classroom, clinical, and laboratory instruction to veterinary students, graduate students, and interns.
  • Provide expert consultation and clinical service in Small Animal Internal Medicine within the VTH.
  • Participate in Emergency/After-hour service, and expected to support the Community Practice Section.
  • Mentor students, interns, and graduate veterinarians, supporting their academic and professional development.
  • Engage in teaching across all four years of the veterinary curriculum, from foundational sciences to advanced clinical practice.
  • Develop innovative teaching, service, and outreach programs that enhance the Department and College.
  • Participate in collaborative research and creative scholarship at the College, the University, and with external partners.
  • Contribute to community service and outreach consistent with TUCVM's mission and serving the region through our VTH.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • DVM (or equivalent) degree required.
  • ACVIM or ECVIM (SAIM) board certification strongly preferred.
  • Candidates who are residency-trained or have significant clinical experience in small animal internal medicine will also be considered.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to use a computer terminal
  • Ability to be mobile throughout the hospital
  • Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
