Suffolk, Virginia offers a wonderful blend of small-town charm and modern amenities, situated in the heart of Hampton Roads. The area provides easy access to Virginia Beach, historic landmarks, and a vibrant community, making it an ideal destination for both work and leisure.
Facility:
This well-established medical center provides comprehensive pulmonary and critical care services to the Hampton Roads community. The facility offers a supportive inpatient environment with strong interdisciplinary collaboration, including respiratory therapy support, and serves patients from the surrounding region.
Opportunity:
Nurse Practitioner - Critical Care
Job Details:
  • Provide locum NP coverage for ICU/Critical Care in an inpatient setting
  • Day shifts available: 7a-8p and Night shifts available: 8p-7a with specific dates across August through November and ongoing into September
  • Must be able to cover at least one stint per month; scheduling will work around locum availability as much as possible
  • Average patient census of 13 per day, ranging from 1-20 patients
  • APP will be working autonomously
  • Perform ventilator management with assistance of respiratory therapists
  • Monitor and manage admitting critical care patients with availability to assist with decompensating patients overnight
  • Admit new critical care patients from the ED, hospital floor, and surrounding hospitals
  • Perform procedures including central lines, arterial lines, and dialysis catheters
  • Update families and manage goals of care when patients decompensate overnight
  • Documentation via EPIC EMR
  • Estimated credentialing timeframe: 2-4 weeks
  • Travel reimbursement provided for flight, hotel (up to $150/night), rental car or Uber (up to $50/day), and mileage at IRS standard rate
  • Board Certified NP required
  • Active Virginia license and DEA required
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Must have critical care experience
  • Clean background required for temporary privileges
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
