Job description

POSITION TITLE:              
  • Utility Billing Specialist
 
JOB LOCATION:               
  • City Hall
  • City of Zephyrhills                                                                                                               
 
SALARY RANGE:               
  • Starting Salary: $36,117.90/ $17.36/hr.
  • Pay Grade Z-153
  • Non-Exempt

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT STATUS: Applicable.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • Applicant must have experience in modern office practices and procedures including the operation of computers, phones, calculators, and other standard office equipment. 
  • Knowledge of utility billing procedures and utility collections preferred. 
  • Ability to understand and follow oral/written instruction and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
 
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: 
  • Responsible for the accurate processing of final and cycle bills.  
  • Reviews meter readings and utility bills to identify and remedy anomalies. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that bills are transmitted monthly. 
  • Process final work orders and prepare final bills.
  • Process requests for the initial start, cancellation, and/or change of service. 
  • Assists with customer phone calls, complaints, and leak adjustments. 
  • Completes other related duties as assigned.
 
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: The selected candidate will have a background check, credit check, and physical exam completed before employment. Possession and maintenance of a Florida driver license is also required before employment. 
 
The compensation package will start at the base salary range and may vary based on proven abilities of the individual selected. The City of Zephyrhills has an excellent benefit package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and Florida Retirement System (FRS).
