Job description

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking an experienced Billing Specialist with strong Deltek Costpoint expertise to support end-to-end billing operations within a government contracting environment. This role is responsible for accurate and timely invoicing across multiple contract types, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, and supporting month-end close activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit customer invoices in accordance with contract terms and billing schedules
  • Manage billing for a range of contract types, including:
    • Time & Materials (T&M)
    • Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF)
    • Cost Plus Award Fee (CPAF)
    • Firm Fixed Price (FFP)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations and company policies
  • Perform unbilled analysis to monitor and resolve unbilled receivables
  • Reconcile billing data and investigate discrepancies in collaboration with project teams and finance
  • Support Accounts Receivable (AR) month-end close, including reporting and reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate billing records and documentation for audit readiness
  • Partner with Program Managers, Contracts, and Finance teams to resolve billing issues and improve processes

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of billing experience in a government contracting environment
  • Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint (required)
  • Strong knowledge of T&M, CPFF, CPAF, and FFP contract billing
  • Understanding of FAR, DFARS, and general government compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
