Job description

The Senior Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing and executing end-to-end billing processes within Lyft's AR Operations team, with a focus on both domestic and international billing operations. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in billing operations, financial reporting, and cross-border invoicing. The Senior Billing Specialist will collaborate across Finance, Revenue, Sales and Billing Ops teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient billing practices at scale.
Responsibilities:
  • AR Operations & Billing
    • Generate and review invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness across domestic and international accounts.
    • Reconcile billing data with financial records to ensure consistency and integrity.
    • Manage the billing cycle from start to finish, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing.
    • Address and resolve billing discrepancies and disputes promptly
    • Support multi-currency billing workflows, including currency conversion, exchange rate application, and FX-related reconciliations.
    • Ensure compliance with country-specific invoicing requirements, tax regulations (VAT, GST, WHT), and e-invoicing mandates across international markets.
  • Data Management and Reporting
    • Maintain and update billing systems including Oracle Fusion, Zuora, and Salesforce.
    • Prepare regular billing reports and financial statements
  • Reconciliation and Audit
    • Reconcile billing accounts and resolve discrepancies, including intercompany and cross-border transactions.
    • Assist in internal and external audits related to billing and financial reporting.
    • Support SOX compliance by adhering to internal controls and documentation standards.
    • Partner with Tax and Legal teams to ensure international billing is compliant with local regulations.
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify and implement improvements to billing processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Drive automation and scalability improvements across the billing lifecycle.
    • Contribute to the buildout and refinement of international billing frameworks as Lyft expands into new markets.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with Sales, Billing Ops, Revenue Accounting, and Finance teams to ensure accurate billing and resolve issues.
    • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, including international partners, to address billing inquiries.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in Legal, Tax, and Sales on international billing matters.
Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 4-6 years in billing, finance, or a related field, with at least 1 year in a senior role.
  • Proficiency in billing software and financial systems, including Oracle Fusion, Zuora, and/or Salesforce.
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Suite Apps (Sheets, Docs, Drive).
  • Experience with multi-currency billing, FX reconciliations, and currency conversion workflows.
  • Familiarity with international tax requirements including VAT, GST, and withholding tax (WHT) as applied to billing.
  • Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience with:
    • Cross-border invoicing and compliance with local invoicing regulations in multiple countries or regions.
    • Multi-currency billing operations, including FX rate application, currency conversion, and related reconciliations.
    • International tax requirements (e.g., VAT, GST, WHT) as they apply to the billing process.
    • Working with international customers or partners to resolve billing inquiries and disputes across time zones.
    • E-invoicing frameworks or country-mandated digital invoicing standards (e.g., CFDI, Peppol, or similar) is a plus.

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $88,000 - $110,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
