Special Instructions to Applicants
The budgeted hiring salary/target range for this position is from the posted minimum to $25 hourly, with salary placement based on skills, knowledge, and experience.
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Principal Auto Equipment-Supervisor, provide driver services of paratransit van(s), light duty vehicles, passenger vans, and/or cars to transport students, staff, and faculty, including those with permanent and temporary mobility impairments, needing assistance getting to/from campus locations and adjacent residential areas on scheduled routes.
Salary & Compensation
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications
  • Knowledge of driving laws as specified in the California Vehicle Code. (Required)
  • Knowledge of UCLA campus and adjacent areas to ensure most effective routes for pick-up and drop-off destinations. (Preferred)
  • 1. Skill in the safe operation of various passenger vehicles to provide transportation as directed. (Required)
  • 2. Skill in establishing/maintaining tactful relationships with supervisors, passengers, co-workers. (Required)
  • 3. Skill in relaying information to passengers politely, clearly, and effectively. (Required)
  • 4. Ability to use two-way radio and/or cellular phone for communication purposes in a professional manner and utilizing proper etiquette. (Required)
  • 5. Ability to maintain accurate, legible logs and records. (Required)
  • 6. Ability to participate in safety training/certification programs. (Required)
  • 7. Ability to detect irregular vehicle performance in order to recognize required maintenance or repairs. (Required)
  • 8. Ability to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality in order to meet specific deadlines. (Required)
  • 9. Ability to use electronic mapping and navigational tools and Thomas Guide for selecting event routing. (Required)
  • 10. Ability to safely interact with trip scheduling software. (Required)
  • 11. Ability to handle complex procedures on electric vehicle charging and monitoring. (Preferred)
  • 12. Ability to operate wheelchair lifts, ramps and other special equipment. (Preferred)

  • Possession of valid Class C California Driver's License without restrictions and maintenance of a satisfactory driving record. (Required)
