Location: HQ - Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Status: Full-time / 100% on-site
Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 annually
Position Summary: KITH Kids is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Assistant Designer to support the kid's design team across multiple apparel categories and seasons. In addition to providing design administrative support, you will work closely with the Senior Designer to bring creative products to life from initial concept. This is a great role for an early-career designer with knowledge of apparel design and a strong understanding of the KITH brand identity. The team is looking for a team player who is highly organized and possesses a natural eagerness to learn and grow within a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Designer with detailed CAD sketching, tech pack and BOM creation, and artwork scaling for all seasonal and collaborative collections.
  • Take thorough notes during all weekly fittings to support design and production comments.
  • Help prepare and build out accurate and detailed sample and submit comments during production stages.
  • Routinely update all master files, sketches, and organize shared drives.
  • Communicate with overseas partners during development and production stages.
  • Organize and maintain fabric libraries.
  • Develop and create new trim artworks for seasonal developments.
  • Conduct trend and market research to support seasonal concept development.
  • Assist with sample, trim, and fabric development throughout the design process.
  • Support the team in managing multiple product categories and seasonal timelines.

Special Projects/Tasks
  • Ownership of specific styles across multiple seasonal collections.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and tasks weekly while adapting to varying deadlines and business needs.
  • Create strong professional relationships with cross-functional partners both in-office and overseas.
  • Learn how to effectively manage projects and communicate professionally with internal teams, vendors, and development partners.

REQUIREMENTS
Experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in apparel design
  • Experience in tech pack creation
  • Experience working within PLM systems preferred

Skills
  • Strong computer skills in Adobe Illustrator and CAD sketching
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Demonstrates proactiveness and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong note-taking skills
  • Knowledge of general apparel construction
  • Knowledge of fashion textiles and terminology
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities with the ability to swiftly adapt and pivot as business needs evolve
