Description

The Senior Designer will focus on developing seasonal product that drives growth & adheres to the brand's DNA. The Senior/Designer will manage product development from initial concept through production phases.


This role should continuously deliver and uphold the brand aesthetic, while also evolving with our client's needs and industry trends. As a key liaison with Sales/Merchandising and Production teams, the ideal candidate will have strong technical design, good commercial eye, presentation, organizational, and management skills.


Girls- infant/ toddler, 4 - 6; sportswear (daily casual play wear), dresses. layette.


Responsibilities

Design/Product:

  • Oversee the product and sample execution for each season
  • Communicate with overseas offices daily to execute accurate and attractive sampling in the timeline required.
  • Manage all account specific requirements
  • Adhere to the production calendar and deadlines required.
  • Consistently shop marketplace, our competitive set and for inspiration and product opportunities
  • Plan the line according to style plans, client's needs and emerging trends
  • Inspecting samples and approving production
  • Able to create tech packs, provide detailed construction comments and flat sketches.
  • Stay informed and ahead of competitive landscape and industry trends and translate for the brand.

Cross-Functional Partnerships:

  • Partner with Design Directors/Merchandiser/Sales to ensure that assortment reflects concept direction, SKU plan & styling needs
  • Work closely with technical team to guide and correct fit samples
  • Direct Tech Pack Designers for accurate information flow to production from costing to production stages. (ADD)
  • Responsible for approvals, corrections, updates and changes to all product as needed. And communicate with Production Coordinators as necessary.
  • Provide a positive and challenging work environment

Requirements

  • 5-8+ years of related experience in Design and or Product Development
  • Solid background in working with merchandising on delivering on trend commercially successful designs
  • Vast knowledge of fabric and construction with a focus on Childrenswear
  • Exceptional design and product development skills; ability to manage from idea to execution
  • Strong point of view and decision-making capabilities
  • Solid understanding of the marketplace and competitive landscape
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication skills- verbal, written and presentation
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment under pressure
  • Extremely proficient using Adobe Illustrator, PLM experience is a plus
  • Experience in having a hands-on approach (designing actual product)
  • Experience and comfortable giving presentations to the Design Director

Hybrid Work Schedule

4 days' a week in the office, 1 day work from home


New York Pay Rate $80,000 - $115,000
