Job Description

RESPEC, an internationally recognized engineering consulting company, seeks a temporary Survey Technician to join our Fairbanks, AK office. This role will join our Land Survey team for the mid-May through mid-August 2026 summer season.

Working at RESPEC means working on world-class projects across Alaska. You will work on exciting projects in locations throughout Alaska using state-of-the-art technologies like GNSS RTK, UAVs (drones), robotic total stations, ground penetrating RADAR, and 3D terrestrial LiDAR scanners. Sometimes travelling by boat, aircraft, sea-plane, helicopter, or ATV to remote projects. This position offers a great career opportunity for a dynamic, energetic individual who wants to learn, develop professionally, and experience Alaska, with potential for full-time employment after graduation.

Duties for the temporary Survey Technician include supporting boundary, control, and topographic design and construction surveys; researching records; preparing legal descriptions; calculating boundary corner searching/staking coordinates; assisting with drawing and deliverable reviews; and providing technical/CAD support for the land surveying team. This role works independently and as part of a survey crew and collaborates with office staff.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Minimum two years of Land Surveying Credits and have some field experience.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a detail-oriented team environment.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and survey software.
  • Physical condition commensurate with travel and challenging physical activity within Alaska, Canada, and the Pacific Rim.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds while hiking irregular and sometimes uphill terrain, in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to work overtime and mobilize to work in remote areas for several days to a couple of weeks at a time.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record; position requires operating a company or personal vehicle during work hours for business-related travel. 
Additional Information

Compensation: Hourly rate depends on experience and typical range is $28 - $34 per hour. This is a temporary part-time position. No benefits are offered except those that are required for statutory purposes.
