Job description

We are seeking a motivated Quality Assurance Supervisor who is willing to work in a high-energy, quality first operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily bakery production to ensure compliance with GMPs, food safety, allergen control, sanitation, and quality standards.
  • Support and maintain the facility SQF program, including records, verification activities, corrective actions, and audit preparation.
  • Perform routine floor inspections for employee hygiene, handwashing, hairnets, beard nets, uniforms, glove use, and good manufacturing practices.
  • Verify production paperwork, CCPs/PCPs, metal detection, weight checks, lot coding, ingredient usage, allergen changeovers, and product quality checks.
  • Ensure bakery-specific controls are followed, including foreign material prevention, ingredient handling, proofing/baking controls, cooling, packaging, and finished product release.
  • Monitor allergen practices, including ingredient labeling, segregation, rework control, utensil/equipment handling, and changeover cleaning.
  • Conduct sanitation inspections before startup and after cleaning to confirm equipment is food-safe.
  • Support environmental monitoring, ATP swabbing, pre-op inspections, and corrective actions for sanitation failures.
  • Investigate quality or food safety issues, customer complaints, holds, nonconforming product, and production deviations.
  • Place product on hold when food safety, quality, labeling, or traceability concerns are identified.
  • Train production, sanitation, warehouse, and temporary employees on GMPs, allergen control, food safety, and SQF expectations.
  • Assist with internal audits, mock recalls, traceability exercises, supplier documentation, and regulatory/customer audit preparation.
  • Partner with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams to correct issues quickly and prevent repeat problems.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure paperwork is completed correctly, legibly, and on time.
  • Promote a strong food safety culture by holding employees accountable and coaching teams on proper practices.

Bakery-Specific Focus Areas
  • Flour, sugar, yeast, fillings, toppings, oils, and ingredient handling.
  • Sifter, mixer, bowl, and equipment cleaning verification.
  • Proofing, baking, cooling, slicing, and packaging controls.
  • Foreign material risks from screens, utensils, belts, pans, racks, and packaging.
  • Allergen risks from wheat, milk, egg, soy, sesame, tree nuts, peanuts, or other site-specific allergens.
  • Label accuracy and ingredient declaration verification.
  • Rework handling and identification.
  • Temperature, time, and humidity controls where applicable.
  • Mold prevention and post-bake handling controls.

Requirements
*1-2 years of experience working in a food manufacturing environment
*Experience in bakery, food manufacturing, or ready-to-eat food production.
*SQF, HACCP, PCQI, GMP, allergen, or internal auditor training preferred.
*Experience with pre-op inspections, sanitation verification, environmental monitoring, and customer audits.
*Prior supervisory or lead experience in FSQA, Quality, Sanitation, or Production.
