QUALITY SUPERVISOR
Martinsburg WV
1st Shift – Monday to Friday
$33-$34/hr with benefits - Medical, Dental, 401k, Pay advancement options, Holidays, and PTO
Responsibilities
SQF, Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of the SQF Code and ensure departmental compliance with SQF, GMP, HACCP, customer, and company requirements.
  • Support SQF audits, regulatory inspections, customer audits, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Serve as the backup to the Quality Manager on quality, food safety, regulatory, customer, and certification-related matters, including SQF, ISO, GMP, HACCP, internal audits, and compliance activities.
  • Assist with maintaining readiness for SQF, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits and inspections.
  • Lead monthly GMP inspections and follow-up activities to ensure facility-wide compliance.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct routine internal quality and process audits; document findings and track completion of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of quality procedures, SOPs, work instructions, and quality systems.
Training, Onboarding & Team Development
  • Present quality and food safety content during new hire orientation and onboarding sessions.
  • Assist with onboarding activities, employee training coordination, and maintaining onboarding documentation.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver refresher training programs for Quality Technicians and other personnel as needed.
  • Maintain and monitor the quality training matrix to ensure required training completion and compliance.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Quality personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and problem-solving.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and feedback, and document employee performance discussions and actions.
  • Assist with tracking departmental attendance and coordinating staffing coverage as needed.
Quality Operations & Reporting
  • Prepare, review, and maintain daily quality reports, including Hold reports and production shift quality summaries.
  • Prepare consolidated weekly and monthly quality reports for management review.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, documentation, logs, and reports in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with investigations, root cause analysis activities, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist with equipment verification and calibration activities to ensure measurement accuracy and compliance.
Staffing, Leadership & Cross-Functional Support
  • Coordinate departmental staffing coverage for PTO, absences, and scheduling needs.
  • Arrange temporary coverage and cross-training activities to maintain continuous quality oversight.
  • Collaborate with Production, Operations, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Safety teams to resolve quality concerns and implement process improvements.
  • Assist the Quality Manager with departmental projects, initiatives, audits, and other assigned responsibilities.
Requirements
Education
  • Associate’s degree in Food Science, Quality, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in quality assurance within food manufacturing, plastics, packaging, or a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish
Knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of SQF, GMPs, HACCP principles, internal auditing processes, food safety systems, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Skills
  • Strong leadership, coaching, organizational, and team development skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, data analysis, reporting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality documentation systems.
Certifications
  • SQF Practitioner certification required.
  • HACCP certification required or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe.
  • Internal Auditor training and ISO experience preferred.

Working Conditions
  • Plant environment with exposure to production floor conditions, including noise and temperature variations.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to support production shifts as needed.
  • Occasional overtime may be required during audits, investigations, projects, or peak production periods.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and stand on the production floor for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb stairs and access mezzanines as needed.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.

Success Metrics
  • Timely completion of GMP inspections and internal audits with corrective actions completed on schedule.
  • Training matrix compliance maintained at 100% for required trainings.
  • Reduction in repeat non-conformances and improvement in quality KPIs, including defects, rejects, customer complaints, and Internal Holds.
  • Accurate and timely completion of quality reports and documentation.
  • Team engagement, accountability, and competency as reflected through training effectiveness and performance evaluations.
