Job description

We are currently searching for a Boarding Agent to work with a very busy and stable company located in Metairie, La.

Pay for this position will start at $50,000-$ 55,000 plus opportunity for quarterly bonuses. This is a salaried position with overtime required.

Vessel boarding agent will work closely and independently with operations managers and team members to secure all standard procedures in the below description in the grain export industry.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Set up documentation for vessel docking, board vessel for inspections and complete and email all sailing documents.
  • Perform all administrative duties regarding documentations for arrivals and departures accurately
  • Must be willing to work on weekends and outside office hours as industry operates on a 24/7 basis
  • Must possess quality time management skills and organization for all email correspondence and handle phone calls in high volume
  • Insure safe delivery of ship mail/bunker samples to and from ships and/or husbandry deliveries and arrangements
  • Traveling daily to obtain necessary documentation for assigned vessel and be able to coordinate all operational duties for assigned vessels: work with U.S. customs, USDA, elevators, and customers
  • Attend inspections, berthing, sailings, clearances, and ordering pilots · Responsible for communicating efficiently for all port operations such as customer relations, government facilities, vendors and elevator personnel
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and have strong attention to detail.

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but High School Diploma is required
  • 3+ years working in an office setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Valid Drivers License Able to obtain a TWIC Card Bilingual speaker is a huge plus
