Job description

SUMMARY
Design, build, test and implement new applications for custom equipment and ensure that products are usable across multiple operating systems within the industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
-Support the design and improvement of custom ticket system software used to maintain customer up-time.
-Maintain and troubleshoot Muratec MAC MCS software applications for a variety of customers. -Design, build, test and implement new in-house applications for custom equipment.
-Design, build, test and implement new in-house applications for custom equipment.
-Design, build, test and implement communication interfaces per the Semi Standard, (SECS/GEM, STKSEM, IBSEM, etc.). Ensure that products are usable across multiple operating systems.
-Draft quotes, and service contracts for customer projects.
-Create purchase orders for third-party vendors that may provide all or part of a software solution.
-Provide software project management. Establish detailed schedules for software projects and maintain/ update shareholders on project progress.
-Identify trends and possible pitfalls within industry-standard software solutions and proactively design and implement fixes or workarounds to improve installed software systems.
-Work with customers to identify possible improvements in their Muratec software, then design and implement improvements as directed by management.
-Develop good and trustworthy relationships with customers by executing troubleshooting activities or rolling out software, as planned or according to schedule and specification, in a demanding production environment.
-Develop a good working relationship with overseas Japanese team members to improve, maintain or upsell software to US-based customers.
-Identify possible middle-ware improvements for Muratec software applications.
-Must have the ability to construct test environments for customers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Minimum of two (2) years in Application development (or equivalent experience) in the Windows Operating System environment and Visual Basic, C/C++ and/or JAVA programming languages.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and technical procedures or operation manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Outstanding oral and written communication skills (English language). Japanese language fluency preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Excellent judgment, troubleshooting and analytical capabilities. Ability to use standard statistical analysis methodologies. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • UNIX operating systems administration (AIX) experience
  • Programming in Oracle, SQL Server Database, C/C++/C#.
  • Java and Python, shell scripts
  • React, Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript
  • Must be comfortable with Oracle, Red Hat OS, ASP.net
  • Work outside normal work hours is expected to maintain helpline and support after-hour issues.

TRAVEL
This position requires 10% travel including domestic and international. A valid drivers license and a good driving record are required.
