Job description

Lead Warehouse Associate

The Lead Warehouse Associate reports to the Operations Manager/Site Leader II and is responsible for performing a variety of tasks, such as picking and packing products for shipment, cleaning reusable shipping and storage containers using an industrial washer, and completing rework tasks assigned by the manager. The Lead Warehouse Associate holds a team lead position and is expected to have a greater understanding of warehouse processes, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to customer order specifications.

Essential Job Functions

Warehouse Tasks (90%)

  • Review customer orders (pick tickets) to identify products for shipment.
  • Locate items to be shipped using radio frequency (RFID) scanners.
  • Pull, sort, and stage items from warehouse inventory to prepare for shipping in a timely manner.
  • Pack items in boxes or envelopes, ensuring appropriate packing materials are used to prevent damage during shipment.
  • Inspect product condition before packaging to ensure quality and report any deficiencies to the manager.
  • Complete rework tasks as assigned by a supervisor.
  • Operate the industrial pallet washing machine to clean product shipment pallets and trays, removing label adhesive, dirt, and grease.
  • Set dunnage cradling bars and feed containers into the washing machine.
  • Verify that washed containers meet cleaning standards.
  • Apply lids and bands to containers after washing in preparation for temporary storage.
  • Palletize and shrink-wrap clean storage containers for shipment.
  • Transport dunnage to appropriate holding locations in the warehouse using pallet jacks.
  • Dispose of broken or unsound containers in an appropriate manner.
  • Complete daily disposal logs to track discarded containers.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve work practices and suggest efficiency improvements to the manager.

Administrative (10%)

  • Train new employees on the processes and tasks required for their positions.
  • Strive to expand warehouse and business knowledge to better assist colleagues and improve team performance.
