Job description

Research Assistant (Study Tech) Animal Operations in Greenfield, Indiana

Labcorp is seeking a Research Assistant to join our Animal Operations team in Greenfield, IN!

Work Schedule: Day time hours, once fully trained will require working every 3rd weekend (both Saturday and Sunday)

Job Responsibilities:

In this position you will be conducting Animal Research studies that will be looking at the safety, effectiveness and toxicity of drugs that are in early development phase and/or chemical substances.

  • May provide husbandry duties to small and large animals
  • Perform various dosing techniques with small and large animals
  • May perform bleeding techniques with small and large animals
  • Collect biological samples
  • Perform basic measurements such as body weight, food consumption, body temperature, blood pressure, etc.
  • Maintaining thehighest standards of animal care and welfare in accordance with Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC)
  • Perform medical imaging
  • Monitor for behavior changes
  • Document findings in LIMS
  • Report on any animals concerns to supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in veterinary technology or related program OR Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field OR 2+ years of college in related Sciences field AND 1-2 years of hands on large or small animal care in laboratory/research or farming operation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior animal research experience
  • Experience with using standard laboratory equipment such as scales, measures, pipetting
  • Ability to follow research study procedures and document findings
  • Good time management skills
  • AALAS Certification is preferred but not required-we can help you obtain this!

Additional Job Standards:

  • Comfortable working with small and large animals in research environment
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Pay: $22/hr.
