Job description

Green City Force is seeking an energetic and organized Temporary Recruitment & Outreach Coordinator to support high-volume recruitment, outreach, and candidate engagement efforts for upcoming Service Corps cohorts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with young people, thrives in fast-paced community settings, and is passionate about expanding access to opportunity.
The Temporary Recruitment & Outreach Coordinator will support outreach events, candidate communications, onboarding activities, and community engagement efforts across New York City. This position is designed to provide additional short-term capacity during active recruitment and enrollment periods.
This is a temporary, hybrid, field-based role that includes travel across all five boroughs, along with office and remote work.
Schedule: 6-month position with a start date in June 2026; 25 hours per week; Monday-Friday, with flexibility for schedule changes - TROC will be expected to work 2 Saturdays per month based on need with adjusted usual Monday-Friday schedule when applicable.
Green City Force (GCF) welcomes applications from Staten Island residents.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment & Candidate Support
  • Conduct outreach to prospective applicants through calls, texts, emails, events, and community-based recruitment
  • Support and facilitate information sessions, tryouts, and onboarding activities
  • Maintain consistent follow-up with candidates throughout the application process
  • Assist applicants with completing enrollment steps and required documentation
  • Help track applicant engagement and recruitment progress
Community Outreach
  • Represent Green City Force at community events, tabling opportunities, and partner meetings
  • Distribute outreach materials and help increase visibility of program opportunities
  • Build positive relationships with community members, residents, and partner organizations
  • Support event logistics, attendance tracking, and outreach documentation
Communications & Administrative Support
  • Assist with social media and outreach communications to help promote recruitment efforts
  • Help maintain recruitment materials and contact databases
  • Support administrative tasks related to candidate tracking, scheduling, and reporting
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and organizational events as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • An alumnus of Green City Force strongly encouraged
  • Commitment to youth development, social and economic justice, and sustainable development; passion for Green City Force's mission
  • Experience in sustainable agriculture, youth development, national service, sustainability sector, community organizing in low-income communities, construction, or military
  • Valid Drivers' License preferred
  • Familiarity and comfort using computer programs such as Google, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal and motivational skills, and excellent collaborative and teamwork skills.
  • Enthusiasm for, and personal commitment to, healthy sustainable living choices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in-person, by telephone, and through written correspondence.

ABOUT GCF:
Green City Force's AmeriCorps program prepares young adults aged 18-24 who reside in the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) or low-income housing in NYC and have a high school diploma or equivalency for careers through green service. Being part of the Service Corps is a full-time commitment encompassing service, training, and skills-building experiences related to healthier buildings and communities. GCF is committed to the ongoing success of our alumni.
