The Opportunity:

West Liberty University is seeking applications for a Part-time, on-call Recording Engineer.The Department of Music & Theatre seeks to hire freelance Recording Engineers to run sessions in our recording studio on a temporary contractual basis. Please submit a resume and at least one letter of recommendation. Experience with Pro Tools software is required. Successful candidates will undergo an orientation in the studio prior to working any sessions.


NOTE: This is a Part-Time Temporary Position

Essential Functions of the position:

  • Recording engineers at WLU are expected to run every aspect of a recording session they are assigned to and follow all studio, department, and university procedures
  • Duties include, but are not necessarily limited to, audio recording, tracking, signal processing, mixing, and mastering.


Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Recording engineers at WLU are required to have a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Technology from WLU, a bachelor's degree in audio engineering (or similar) from a different university, or significant professional experience as determinedby the current music technology faculty member(s) at West Liberty University following an interview.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Required proficiencies: ProTools software, the care and use of microphones and microphone-related equipment, the proper use and maintenance of all studio equipment including, but not limited to, cables, patchbays, preamps, direct boxes, computers, monitors, displays, hard drives, and instruments.
  • Preferred skills: Mixing and post-production.
