JOB SUMMARY

The Wine Club Representative plays a key role in supporting the Benziger and Imagery Direct-to-Consumer (DtC) Sales and Wine Club team, delivering exceptional service while driving sales and membership growth. Based at Benziger Family Winery in Glen Ellen, CA, this temporary position reports to the Wine Club Manager and is responsible for executing day-to-day customer engagement and sales activities across multiple channels. The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including inbound and outbound customer communications via phone, email, and chat, order processing, data entry and maintenance, and wine club support. The Wine Club Representative will actively contribute to both sales and service goals by promoting wine and club membership, resolving customer inquiries, and initiating outbound sales and customer service calls. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage a high volume of interactions while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism. The role also serves as a brand ambassador, helping ensure that all customer interactions reflect the values and hospitality of Benziger and Imagery wineries.

This is a hybrid role working Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with typical onsite days being Thursday and Saturday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Drive sales through inbound and outbound calls, live chat, and emails, leveraging service interactions into sales opportunities.
  • Deliver best-in-class customer service while promoting wine and club memberships.
  • Respond to and resolve customer inquiries related to orders, shipments, and Wine Club experiences with professionalism and care.
  • Build and nurture customer relationships through ongoing communication, gathering insights to inform product, service, and member experience enhancements.
  • Support Wine Club growth and retention efforts, including contributing ideas for promotions, acquisition, and member benefits.
  • Maintain accurate customer and member data, including order processing, database management, and administrative tasks.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Tasting Room teams to ensure a seamless and elevated customer experience.
  • Represent the brand professionally across all customer touchpoints (in-person, phone, and digital).

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with Wine Club and Tasting Room events, including occasional hosting responsibilities.
  • Support marketing efforts such as proofing email communications and Wine Club newsletters.
  • Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives that support departmental and business objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities may evolve based on business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required, relevant customer service, sales, hospitality, or related experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of customer service, marketing, or direct-to-consumer wine industry experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across internal and external audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and strong overall computer aptitude; ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Experience with wine industry platforms (e.g., Commerce7, RedChirp, ShipCompliant, Wineshipping) a plus.
  • Previous tasting room and/or wine club experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to identify customer needs and convert service interactions into sales opportunities through thoughtful, relationship-based selling.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to following company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Employee is required to have reliable transportation and maintain current automobile insurance coverage in accordance with California law.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to approximately fifty pounds, including cases of wine, tables, chairs, and event supplies.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in an office environment.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions during onsite and offsite winery events.

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly Pay Rate Posted: $23.00 plus incentives, tips, and bonuses.
