Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Vir Bio is looking for a temporary Project Manager to support cross-functional workstream and project management activities for a clinical-stage asset being transitioned to a strategic partner. The ideal candidate brings strong foundational project management skills, experience in clinical development and regulatory processes, and comfort working on partnered assets in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Project Manager will support the transition of program-related contracts and related purchase orders, ensuring vendors are notified following the terms of the respective agreements and appropriately tracked for a clean transfer of responsibilities between Vir Bio and partner budgets, invoices, and financial reporting. The role will work closely with Alliance Management, Finance, Legal, Procurement, Development Operations, Clinical Operations and CMC/Manufacturing to ensure a clean cutoff of regulatory and legal ownership, and disciplined trancing of contracts for timely transfer. 

This role is based at our San Francisco headquarters, with an expectation of at least three days per week in the office. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Maintain an integrated tracker of all transition-related contracts, POs and any other financial obligations 
  • Support mapping of each contract to the appropriate functional owner, transition status, etc. 
  • Support financial lead in separating pre-cutoff and post-cutoff financial obligations 
  • Coordinate with function owners to confirm termination or transfer readiness 
  • Coordinate with legal to confirm contractual obligations related to transfer 
  • Follow-up with functional stakeholders across AM, Legal, Procurement, Clinical Operations, Clinical Research, Development Operations and CMC on missing information or unresolved transition terms 
  • Prepare weekly status updates, dashboards, and issues log 
  • Support meeting preparation, agenda setting, action item tracking  
  • Support post-transfer reconciliation and track remaining obligations and disputed or unclear expenses 
WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING
  • BS/BA in a scientific or related discipline required; advanced degree (MS, PharmD, PhD, MBA) a plus 
  • 12+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with 5+ years in project management or equivalent cross-functional coordination roles 
  • Experience supporting clinical development programs and familiarity with key regulatory milestones and submissions  
  • Familiarity with contracts, budgets, invoices and POs. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams under a tight timeline   
  • Experience working on partnered or co-development programs strongly preferred; financial integration experience is a plus 
  • Solid project management fundamentals: planning, scheduling, risk/issue management, stakeholder communication, and meeting facilitation 
  • Experience with digital tools for project planning, tracking and collaboration, including Smartsheet, SharePoint, Microsoft Office products, and other widely used project management platforms 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams  
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment, balancing tactical execution (agendas, minutes, trackers) with broader project planning and coordination

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE OFFER

The expected hourly range for this position is $ 77.00 to $109.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
