Job description

Job Summary
The Project Management Supervisor is a high-agency leadership role responsible for the operational excellence of a 10+ project manager's team. This position is designed for a dynamic, fast-paced, and tech-forward professional with the trajectory to step into the Translation Operations Manager role. This role will not only oversee day-to-day execution but will also be the primary architect of change, including to understand new technologies and workflows to scale department efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
High-Scale Leadership & Accountability
  • Strategic Supervision: Direct the workload and performance of 10+ project managers. This role is expected to manage systems, processes and project managers' KPIs, ensuring the team remains high-performing without requiring constant intervention from the Operations Manager.
  • Performance Engineering: Maintain project managers' scorecards and conduct rigorous monthly performance reviews. This role is responsible for identifying high-potential talent for future leadership while decisively addressing underperformance.
  • Capacity & Load Balancing: Proactively adjust resource allocation across the team to prevent burnout and ensure 100% coverage during peak volumes and based on competencies.
  • Technology Adaptation: Actively evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (AI, LLMs, and automation) into the standard Project Managers' workflow to reduce manual processes.
  • Workflow Auditing & Authority: Conduct root-cause analysis on project failures. Project manager supervisor is empowered to overhaul broken processes and set new departmental standards.
  • Financial Stewardship: Act as the final gatekeeper for project profitability. Project manager supervisor will oversee margin health, with specific authority to audit and defend high-value spend (>$10k) and remediate projects showing margin erosion.

Stakeholder & Strategic Command
  • Inter-Departmental Synergy: Partner as a peer with DTP and ADA Supervisors to sync complex style guides, processes, approaches, countermeasures, and improvements.
  • Executive Backup: Serve as the primary "fail-safe" for all accounts, ensuring that leadership presence is maintained even during project managers' absences.
  • Change Advocacy: Represent the project manager team in strategy meetings, providing data-backed pushback to ensure operational decisions align with team capacity and technological capabilities.

Requirements
  • Tenure: Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in translation project management.
  • Leadership Span: Proven experience managing a large number of direct reports (10+) in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Mastery: Advanced expertise in CAT-tool (for example, memoQ), business management tool (for example, XTRF), TMS (for example, XTM) and project management took (for example, Trello.) Must demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot portal issues and system integrations independently by utilizing available resources.
  • Unshakeable Professionalism: We are looking for a leader with the confidence to drive change,advocate for their team, and operate with a high degree of autonomy from the Operations Manager.
