Job description

Please note that this is a full-time, temporary position for the 2026-2027 school year only. 
Contract Start Date: Fall 2026
Contract End Date: 6/30/27


POSITION:        ML Instructional Coach and ELA Support (Temporary Full-time)
START DATE:    2026-2027 School Year 
Salary:               Teacher salary schedule based on experience and degree. Salary Schedule can be found on the district website: https://www.irsd.net/salary-scales.

Goal:
To help provide literacy and/or math support to ML students and promote a positive learning environment that encourages the development of literacy and/or math skills.
Minimum Qualifications:


  • Meets certification requirements of the State of DE as a Middle Level Teacher, including Teacher of English Learners Certification and Middle or Secondary ELA, required
  • Possesses at least three years of successful teaching in Language Arts and Math
  • Demonstrates the skills to deal tactfully and effectively with people
  • Demonstrates the specialized knowledge necessary to be successful with working with ML and economically disadvantaged students
  • Clean Criminal Background Check, TB Test, and Child Protection Registry Clearance must be completed prior to start of employment

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, small group and class instruction or demonstrations as appropriate
  • Collect and analyze data to guide instructional decisions in collaboration with grade level teams and individual teachers regarding strengths and opportunities for improvement for students
  • Assist in screenings/testing of students to determine the most appropriate placement and/or interventions
  • Monitor and maintain records regarding student progress toward state standards
  • Assist in the organization and coordination of professional development activities
  • Design, promote and implement special projects to promote literacy and math
  • Coaching teachers in ML, ELA, and Math instructional strategies
  • Support instruction through collaborative planning, modeling lessons, and co-teaching
  • Other related duties as may be required
