UHP's best-in-class clinical program covers three sub-specialties (urology, gastroenterology, and radiation oncology) and offers numerous ancillary services, including pathology lab, in-office dispensing, and chronic care management. We are led by a highly accomplished management team and provide a full suite of management services to its affiliated practices. UHP is currently affiliated with 182 providers consisting of 119 physicians and 63 advanced practice providers operating out of 54 locations across Southern, Central, and Northern California.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Scribe is responsible for performing all clerical and information technology functions for a physician in a specialty clinic setting including the operation of electronic health records and electronic dictation systems. Communication with physicians, staff, and patients is paramount in this position, ensuring that the service needs of all customers are met effectively and efficiently.

What you will be doing

  • Accompany physician into the patient examination room in order to transcribe a history and physical exam and document accurately the physicianโ€™s encounter with the patient and others present.
  • List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
  • Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
  • Document all procedures performed by the physician and other work processes as required.
  • Provide feedback about any data entry errors and review records using accurate spelling and correct grammar before they are sent to the physician for review and signing.
  • Assist in abstracting and scanning paper records in the electronic health record.

What you will bring to the team

  • High school diploma or GED certificate required.
  • 6 monthsโ€™ experience as a Medical Scribe or equivalent related education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terms and vocabulary.
  • Understanding of physical exam process and the ability to record exam details.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
  • Basic technical knowledge of PCs, handheld devices, and associated applications.
