About the Position

The Assistant Director of Prospect Management supports the philanthropic goals of the OHSU Foundation by driving prospect management and tracking, prospect identification, and portfolio management and analysis for assigned partners.

Note: This is a temporary position from August 2026 through January 2027.

What You'll Be Doing

Prospect Management

  • Serve as strategic partner with assigned gift officer to optimize portfolios, strengthen prospect pools, and recommend strategies for outreach that encourage major and transformational gift relationships. Provide guidance related to best practices for portfolio management, serving as a collaborative partner and thought leader to fundraising staff
  • Collaborate with development officers, fundraising leadership, and other internal partners to understand portfolio needs; implement innovative solutions to address moves management and fundraising strategies
  • Partner with new gift officers to develop and establish new portfolios, and transition portfolios following development staffing changes Develop and implement the tools necessary to keep a robust prospect pool that relates directly to the goals and targets of the assigned unit(s)
  • Lead individual and group portfolio review meetings and strategy sessions
  • Coordinate clearance system for prospects
  • Monitor prospect pool and forecast. Provide relevant and timely information and analysis to optimize portfolio(s) 

Data Integrity and Service

  • Provide prompt, thorough, and accurate service through the completion of prospect management requests
  • Ensure data integrity of all information relevant to the prospect pool; perform routine data integrity error checks

  • You are customer service-minded and eager to understand and meet the needs of stakeholders
  • You have the ability to analyze, interpret, and synthesize information from a variety of sources to inform prospect strategy and portfolio assignment decisions.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and can build productive partnerships with a wide range of constituents, including Foundation colleagues, OHSU faculty and staff, alumni, donors, and volunteers.
  • You understand development and major gift fundraising and how research and prospect management support fundraising efforts.
  • You have experience collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating information and can apply that knowledge to support fundraising strategy.
  • You understand multiple screening strategies and methodologies, including data mining, segmentation, and analytics.
You Should Have

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with major and principal-gift level prospect strategy development, research, and prospecting
  • 5-7 years in a development research office and prospect management office or related experience, preferably in healthcare, higher education or complex non-profit environment 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; advanced skills preferred
  • Experience working in a relational database (Raiser's Edge or Salesforce Affinaquest preferred).
  • Experience working in a relational database
