Davenport Management & Consulting provides Project Management Solutions and PMO Consulting to a diverse client base of owners and contractors in multiple industries. We assist clients with Project Management, Change Management, Project Controls, CPM Scheduling, Project Management Training, and PMO Support.
What you will do
This is a temporary (~ 18 month) 40 hour/week position for a Construction Project Manager.
We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Construction Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of the construction retrofit projects and ensure they progress on schedule and within budget.  The CPM oversees resource planning, cost control, scope management, and schedule adherence while championing safety, ethics, and compliance at every stage. The Construction Project Manager cultivates strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, and internal partners to ensure profitable, on-time, and high-quality project delivery. Success is measured by project profitability, executed gross margin, positive cash flow, and timely project completion.  The ideal candidate is an expert in building methods and has a proven track record of successful construction management projects.  
How you will do it 
  • Manage the profitable execution of assigned projects. 
  • Understand project scope and customer expectation.
  • Ensure business is conducted with the highest ethical standards
  • Maintain profitability goals and positive cash flow for assigned projects. 
  • Provide leadership by demonstrating focus on exceeding customers’ expectations. 
  • Develops and adheres to a Project Execution Plan for each assigned project. 
  • Schedule key deliverables and milestones and ensure progress is being made
  • Plans, schedules, and controls project activities.
  • Self-perform cost estimating and cost reviews of assigned projects. 
  • Ensure that assigned projects are done accurately, on-time, billed, within budget and within scope of the contract.
  • Determines resource levels required to attain schedule milestones and monitors workforce levels for conformance with the construction plan 
  • Utilize resource planning techniques to gain high productivity from team members. 
  • Provide monthly reporting of Project financial status and participates in the Monthly Management Project reviews, as needed. 
  • Controls project costs and scope creep, ensuring all scope changes are promptly documented and that change orders are approved prior to the performance of work. 
  • Effectively communicate the status of assigned projects to the Management Team of revenue, costs, and gross margin
  • Establish customer touch points throughout the life cycle of projects to gain feedback on customer satisfaction.
  • Fosters and maintains good working relationships with subcontractors and internal partners. 
  • Ensures compliance with provincial, local and federal legal requirements. 
  • Champions and drives the Company Safety Program for employees and subcontractors at all levels. 
What we look for
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Construction Project Manager is required
  • Broad knowledge of commercial/contractual complexity/deal structure/financial acumen.
  • Deep understanding of construction management methods and processes
  • Advanced knowledge of construction methods, building products, and building codes
  • Strong leadership and crisis resolution skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Excel and construction management software, MS Projects, E-Builder
  • Proficient in Project Management software (MS Projects, etc) and financial accounting systems. 
  • Ability to break large projects into small steps
  • Management experience with projects related to HVAC, Controls/BAS, Lighting, and Renewable Energy systems is desired. 
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must have the ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience. 
  • Strong Personal Computer in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe/Nitro, Teams Zoom, and basic Windows environment. 
  • Ability to travel as required; projects may exist outside of the assigned geography 
  • OSHA 30 Certification
    Preferred:
    LEED certification or PMP Certification
