As our firm continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership and help guide the firm through its next phase of growth. This individual will work directly with ownership and executive leadership to drive financial performance, improve operational efficiency, manage risk, and support long-term business objectives.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Part-Time Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team. This role is ideal for an experienced finance executive who enjoys building financial infrastructure, developing growth strategies, and providing high-level financial oversight. The CFO will be responsible for forecasting, budgeting, financial planning, cash flow management, risk mitigation, and executive-level decision support.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading finance functions in a growing organization, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment. Experience with attorney trust accounts, financial controls, and multi-department financial analysis is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee the firm's financial strategy, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Provide executive leadership with financial analysis and recommendations to support growth and profitability
  • Monitor firm cash flow, working capital, and overall financial health
  • Develop long-term financial models to support expansion initiatives and strategic planning
  • Analyze profitability by department, practice area, and business unit
  • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the firm's assets and operations
  • Establish and strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and reporting procedures
  • Review financial statements and key performance indicators to ensure accurate decision-making
  • Provide oversight of trust account compliance and financial governance processes
  • Support leadership with compensation planning, workforce budgeting, and operational forecasting
  • Manage banking relationships, financing opportunities, and vendor financial negotiations
  • Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to improve financial efficiency and reporting accuracy
  • Present financial performance updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, expansion initiatives, and other strategic business opportunities as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • CPA, MBA, or other advanced financial credential preferred
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive finance, accounting, or executive financial leadership experience
  • Previous CFO, VP of Finance, Finance Director, or Controller experience preferred
  • Law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with financial forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, and risk management
  • Knowledge of trust account management and financial compliance requirements preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and operational finance
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to communicate financial concepts effectively to non-financial stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
