Job description

Position Overview
General Function:
Client is looking to hire an Export Compliance Specialist. The Export Compliance Specialist is an integral part of the business and ensures the company remains in compliance with regulatory policies relating to the global export of goods. The individual must be a self-starter, problem solver, and keep up to date with the changing regulations and sanctions globally.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare international shipping documentation
Authorize the release of export sales orders to the warehouse
Enter export declarations into the government's ACE portal
Identify and rectify areas of export non-compliance
Maintain record keeping per the current requirements
Submit license applications when necessary
Develop and conduct internal training on export compliance
Monitor changes in regulations and global export issues
Update export compliance procedures and manuals
Interact with various departments, and employees at all levels, while maintaining a customer focused, team attitude
Act as a resource to recommend proper shipping channels and processes
Interact directly with government agencies and freight forwarders as necessary
Work on special projects as assigned by the supervisor
Research new sanctions and propose new processes to maintain compliance
Additional duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors or Associates degree in a related field
Attention to detail is critically important
Strong computer skills, especially with MS-Office applications
Willingness to continue learning trade regulations
Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision
Prior shipping experience would be beneficial
Working knowledge of Incoterms
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with SAP ERP system a plus
Specific Skills Needed:
Top 3-5 mandatory and/or minimum requirements
Strong attention to detail
Strong math skills preferred - would make training easier
Strong excel skills
Top 3-5 desirable attributes/qualifications?
Experience in finance/warehouse shipping/receiving
Trade Compliance experience preferred
Self starter, willing to jump in
Required levels/ Years of Experience education - discuss whether there is flexibility
Notes:
Onsite 5 days a week
Temp to Perm
40 Monday - Friday 8 am - 5pm (1 hour lunch break)
