Superintendent - Hospitality Construction


We are looking for a Superintendent with experience working in either Multi-Family or Hotel Construction.


Summary:

The purpose of this position is to supervise trades on site and ensure their compliance with plans, specs, and safety requirements. The Superintendent's duty is to achieve maximum production in the most efficient manner. This position reports to, and carries out the direction of the Project Manager.

Operational:

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the general and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, construction means, methods and materials, understanding of line and grade and survey methods.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the development of the on-site procedures.
  • Maintain current schedule status as well as long term schedule for on-site activities.
  • Manage the day to day field activities.
  • Oversee work among all trades to promote a coordinated project operation. Resolving local area problems regarding procedures, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule and all other appropriate matters.
  • Primary on-site liaison with owner/architects/engineers for the day-to-day construction activities of the project.
  • Maintains/communicates project task list on regular basis.
  • Work with the Project Manager to develop and implement overall project work schedules identifying the critical path including the expediting of scheduled critical materials and equipment for their timely delivery to site. Report all deviations from the schedule immediately.
  • Oversee work among all trades to promote a coordinated project operation. Resolving local area problems regarding procedures, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule and all other appropriate matters.
  • Work with the Project Manager in developing and implementing quality control procedures, safety and security practices, field office location and layout, temporary utilities, staging areas, equipment and manpower.
  • Ensure all permits, notices, signs, and safety materials are properly posted and maintained.
  • Primary on-site liaison with owner/architects/engineers for the day-to-day construction activities of the project.
  • Act as on-site liaison to inspection agencies (i.e. city, county, third party inspections, etc.)
  • Receive and review the Subcontractors Daily Reports of work performed and labor and material employed.
  • Collect copies of all material delivery sheets and to make a written report of any deficiencies in delivery or supplies ordered.

Management:

  • Provide leadership and maintain an effective position of authority.
  • Promote a positive working environment on both the job site and in the office.
  • Ensure that the overall work environment on the job site reflects the philosophy and values of the company.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills and help ensure positive communication with staff, co-workers, subcontractors, vendors, agencies, owners, and the community.

  • Develop, lead and supervise job site employees and subcontractors to ensure overall job budget, completion timeline and quality standards are met.
  • Supervise the field construction of the project, including its organization, planning, and scheduling, to complete the work on time, within budget, and to the specified quality.

Other / Safety:

  • Develop and manage the job site safety program ensuring employee and subcontractor compliance with any applicable safety codes, the company Safety Manual and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform/coordinate safety meeting/briefings with subcontractors and Mitch Cox employees on-site and to issue minutes to the Project Manager.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally performed in outside weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and would include additional hours as required by projects and deadlines, 45-50 hours per week.

Travel may be expected for this position.
