Job Title: CNC Machinist and Programmer – 1st ShiftJob Description
This role combines hands-on CNC machining with basic CNC programming and code editing on mills, lathes, and multi‑axis machines. You will set up and operate CNC equipment, make minor program edits, and ensure high-quality parts through precise measurement and inspection. The position also involves routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and contributing to continuous improvement in a small-shop environment on a 1st shift schedule.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, or multi‑axis machines for production runs.
- Load raw materials, select appropriate tooling, and prepare CNC machines for operation.
- Monitor machine performance and adjust feeds and speeds to maintain consistent quality output.
- Conduct test runs to validate machine functionality and program accuracy before full production.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards.
- Edit existing CNC programs at the controller using G and M code at a basic level.
- Make minor modifications to toolpaths, offsets, and machining sequences as required by the job.
- Input basic instructions and parameters into CNC equipment based on project requirements.
- Troubleshoot programming-related issues at the machine and support machinists and engineers when needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications to understand part requirements.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Verify part dimensions and tolerances to ensure strict conformity to specifications and quality standards.
- Document inspection results, maintain records, and report nonconformities or production issues promptly.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes.
- Identify and resolve minor mechanical or programming issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain detailed production and maintenance logs for traceability and process control.
- Assist with continuous improvement efforts by suggesting and supporting enhancements to machining processes.

Work Environment
This role is on 1st shift in a small-shop environment that offers a structured yet flexible schedule. Typical hours follow either a 4x10 schedule from Monday through Thursday or a 4x9 schedule from Monday through Thursday with a half day on Friday, with a planned start time around 6:00 a.m. You will work closely with a tight-knit team and have room for growth as you gain experience with CNC mills, lathes, and related equipment. The shop environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with modern CNC machines and precision measuring tools used daily to maintain high-quality standards.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $62000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
