This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our city's infrastructure, ensuring that Greensboro remains a vibrant and welcoming place for residents and visitors. About the Role: This Crew Member will be responsible for performing cleaning maintenance on the City's infrastructure.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to: dead animal removal, litter collection, island cleaning, central business district cleaning, and loose leaf collection. This employee will be required to set up work zones and special events, such as Fun Fourth and Get Down Downtown. Seasonal duties include participation in the Loose Leaf Collection program and Snow and Ice Removal Program.

The successful applicant will be required to use shovels, rakes, brooms, backpack blowers, weed eaters, and other small tools. This position requires working in and around traffic and heavy equipment. This employee must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

The City of Greensboro pays employees semi-monthly, and the position is assigned to a 40-hour work schedule, typically Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch. During the Loose Leaf Collection Program, typically from November through January, the schedule changes to Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m

to 3:30 p.m. This schedule is subject to change during a holiday week or for emergency service, which may require working a flexible schedule with little or no notice and may include weekends, nights, or holidays. This employee will be assigned to the snow and ice removal program and will be subject to working 12-hour shifts during winter or other weather-related events

This employee must have good attendance. The physical duties include: standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, shoveling, and heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Work is performed outside in all weather conditions.

This employee must obtain a Commercial Driver's Permit within 30 days of employment and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement within 120 days of employment, as well as maintain a reliable means of contact, such as home or cellular telephone (to remain in this position).
