Culinary Teacher

St. Thomas Aquinas High School, a large Catholic high school located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. is seeking to hire qualified and experienced full-time Culinary Teacher for the upcoming 2026-27 school year. This teacher will instruct students in fundamental cooking techniques, food safety standards, and nutritional principles within a professional kitchen classroom. S/he will be expected to develop engaging lesson plans that balance hands-on lab work with theoretical knowledge, preparing students for industry certifications or future careers in hospitality. The candidate will also foster essential life skills like teamwork, time management, and workplace professionalism in a supportive learning environment. Culinary Teacher performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami. Salary will vary based on certification and years of experience.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or similar hospitality related field; Master's degree is preferred.
  • Florida DOE Teaching Certification in grades 9-12, temporary or professional; or in the process of acquiring certification.
  • Must obtain catechetical certification from the Archdiocese Office of Catechesis within three years of hire.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in high school levels preferred.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with experience in digital books, interactive classroom technology, such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Database, and Spreadsheet management, and digital gradebooks.
  • Excellent oral and written English -language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
  • Good spelling and grammar are required.
  • Must be fully committed, supportive and respectful of the mission, teachings and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Must have knowledge of tenets of Catholic Church.
  • Must have a professional demeanor, including adherence to dress code.
