Title: Barista/FOH
Function: Onsite, Tipped, Non-Except
Reports to: Area Manager, Operations
Uniform: Plain white or off white collared long-sleeve or short-sleeve collared shirt. Company cap, company apron, dark bottoms and closed-toed shoes.
Requirements:
- 18+ years of age
- 2 years of work experience as a Barista in an establishment of similar standard and quality to Black Fox Coffee.
- The Barista/FOH is required to have a minimum of 24 hours a week of availability.
- Ability to stand and work in service for up to 10 hours a day
- Ability to squat, reach, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Passion for providing an exceptional hospitality experience, guests above all else.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently, with quality assurance being a constant focus.
- Upbeat attitude and works well within a small team.
- Ability to take direction, receive coaching and feedback, and strive to execute at a high level.
- An enthusiastic love of coffee and food, and willingness and ability to learn extensively about the products we serve.

- Ability to read, write, and converse in English at a conversational level during work times when communicating with English-speaking guests and coworkers.
Responsibilities:
- Taste everything!
- Always be informed about what coffees are being served each day and what they taste like.
- What are the coffee’s origins and processing?
- Who roasted the coffee?
- Is this coffee more “classic/milk friendly” or “fruit-forward/vibrant”?
- Greet, serve, and engage with guests in an upbeat, friendly, and professional manner.
- Provide exceptional hospitality experiences to all, guests above all else.
- Maintain a keen general awareness of guests and their presence in the cafe.
- Speak to guests about our full offering (coffee, tea, grab and go, pastries, meals), answer questions, and provide guidance and advice as required.
- Process orders and take payment for goods via the POS system.
- Ensure complete knowledge and adherence to company recipes, procedures, and standards.
- Keep the shop clean and tidy, regularly and consistently moving around the space to maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal.
- Work autonomously within a team, adhering to Black Fox’s processes and procedures to operate within the venue.
- Prepare, brew, and monitor coffee levels and quality, striving to serve all coffee within the target time of 3 minutes
- Utilize equipment correctly and safely according to Black Fox procedures and policies at all times
- Count cash and reconcile the register at the beginning and end of shifts, recording cash drops as per company standards
- Utilize store opening and closing checklists each day, ensuring processes are completed to company standards.
- Check Slack daily before and during shifts to keep updated with service and operations information.
- Communicate regularly with colleagues via Slack, following the guidance and direction being shared.
- Maintain Department of Health (DOH) standards at all times. (sanitizer buckets, temp logs, time stamps, uploading images to Slack, cleanliness, sanitation, food safety and preparation, FIFO, etc)
- Complete restocking, cleaning, and prep tasks regularly, as required.
