How much do temporary cobra jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 26, 2026, the average hourly pay for temporary cobra in the United States is $18.38, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.38 and $19.95 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How much does 3 months of COBRA cost?

The cost of COBRA coverage for three months typically depends on the individual's previous employer's insurance plan, but it generally ranges from 600 to 1,800 dollars for that period, as COBRA premiums usually equal the full cost of the employer-sponsored plan plus a 2% administrative fee. Temporary COBRA coverage may be available if the job involved short-term employment or specific benefits, but costs are primarily determined by the underlying insurance plan. It is advisable to review the specific plan details and consult with the employer or insurance provider for accurate pricing.

Can you do COBRA just for a month?

Temporary COBRA coverage typically lasts for up to 18 months, but it can be elected for shorter periods if the individual chooses to cancel early. However, COBRA is designed to provide extended continuation coverage, so a one-month period is uncommon and may require specific arrangements or alternative short-term plans. It is important to notify the plan administrator promptly if coverage is to be terminated early.

What is the 60 day loophole for COBRA?

The 60-day loophole for COBRA refers to the period during which an individual can elect COBRA coverage after losing health benefits, typically within 60 days of notification. If not enrolled within this window, they may lose the right to continue coverage, which is important for temporary workers or those with short-term employment like a Temporary Cobra role. Staying aware of enrollment deadlines ensures continuous health coverage during employment transitions.

What is the difference between Temporary Cobra vs Temporary Health Insurance?

FeatureTemporary CobraTemporary Health Insurance
Coverage DurationTypically up to 18 monthsVaries; often short-term, 1-12 months
EligibilityEmployees who experienced qualifying eventsAnyone needing temporary coverage, no employment requirement
CostEmployer and employee share premiums, often higherGenerally lower premiums, paid directly
Work EnvironmentEmployer-sponsored, continuation of group planIndividual plan, outside employer sponsorship

Temporary Cobra provides continuation of employer-sponsored health coverage after employment ends, usually for up to 18 months. Temporary health insurance offers short-term coverage outside of employer plans, often at a lower cost and with flexible durations. Understanding these differences helps individuals choose the right health coverage during transitional periods.

Is COBRA coverage temporary?

COBRA coverage for a temporary COBRA job typically lasts up to 18 months, depending on qualifying events and circumstances. It is designed to provide continued health insurance during transitional employment periods but is not permanent. The duration can be extended in certain situations, such as disability or additional qualifying events.
