Job description

About Parting Stone

Parting Stone is redefining the cremation experience by offering families a meaningful alternative to traditional ashes. Our solidification process transforms cremated remains into a collection of 40-80+ smooth, beautiful stones that families can hold, share, and keep close.

Since 2019, we've served over 14,000 families across the U.S. and Canada through a growing network of funeral home and crematory partnerships. We are a Public Benefit Corporation based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and we prioritize social impact, ensuring that our decisions reflect our commitment to supporting families experiencing loss.

Our work has been featured in Bloomberg Businessweek, Fast Company, and People Magazine, as well as an appearance on Shark Tank.

Who We Are

We're a team of thoughtful professionals united by a belief that end-of-life care can, and should, be better. We approach our work with curiosity, precision, and empathy to create solutions that honor the profound significance of loss.

We don't apply temporary fixes to difficult experiences. We design new possibilities from the ground up, guided by a genuine interest in death care and a commitment to serving families with dignity and care.

Join Us

Parting Stone is an inclusive workplace and an LGBTQIA+ safe space. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, including 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, plus up to 120 hours of PTO annually.

Position Overview

Production Technicians are responsible for transforming cremated remains into stones. This is a physically active position that requires extended periods of standing and moving throughout each shift. Our solidification process is similar to ceramic production and general manufacturing. Daily responsibilities include material processing and handling, operation of lab equipment, order tracking via an ERP system (Odoo), and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. Technicians work in close contact with human and animal remains and are entrusted with upholding strict chain-of-custody protocols to ensure every set of remains is handled with care and accountability throughout the entire process.

As technicians build familiarity with our materials, equipment, and processes, opportunities exist to grow into more specialized and refined roles within the production team.

This role is well-suited for someone who is detail-oriented, adaptable, and has a good sense of humor. Production Technicians may be asked to support tasks outside of their primary responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable working with cremated remains
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
  • Collaborative and team oriented
  • Emotionally intelligent and self-aware, with the ability to recognize and communicate feelings of uncertainty or stress in a sensitive work environment
  • Strong situational awareness, ability to anticipate what needs to be done, take initiative, and understand how daily decisions and actions connect to broader outcomes and long-term goals
  • Adaptable and solutions-oriented, with the ability to identify and address issues as they arise
  • Comfortable learning new production methods, equipment, and software, including Odoo, Google Drive, and Slack
  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or production position

Work Environment
This job operates in a lab/production environment in Santa Fe, NM. Production Technicians must comply with company and OSHA standard workplace safety protocols.

Physical Demands
Production Technicians must be stationary, upright, ascend, lower themselves, or move about during their shift. This position requires being upright for up to 7 hours per day, repetitive movement, and may require lifting or moving up to 75 lbs. Production Technicians must wear PPE such as gloves, masks, and respirators.

Expected Hours of Work
Part-time or full-time hours available. Monday - Friday, 6 am - 6 pm. Hours and days may change due to company needs.

Compensation
Starting at $21.00/hour

Benefits
Health, vision, and dental insurance
Up to 120 hours of PTO annually
50-minute paid break per 8-hour shift

Salary/Compensation: $21.00 per hour
