This is an opportunity to become part of a dedicated team supporting public safety, working in a correctional facility where professionalism, resilience, and teamwork are essential. This position is responsible for providing accounting, financial, auditing, reporting, and administrative support for inmate organizations, inmate banking operations, and the EHCC Who Date Cafe. The incumbent is expected to maintain accurate institutional assets through established internal controls, and provide support to the overall fiscal operations of the institution.

Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Reviews expenditure requests submitted by inmate organizations for individual club activities, club operations, concession resale purchases, donations, and other approved expenditures. Ensures sufficient funds are available prior to processing request and verifies all supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, proper approvals, and compliance with applicable policies and procedures. Researches requests as necessary and determines whether expenditures should be approved or denied based on available funding, organizational purposed, and established guidelines.

Maintains accounting records for all inmate organizations utilizing the QuickBook accounting system. Posts deposits, checks, journal entries, adjustments, and other financial transactions to the appropriate accounts. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each inmate organization utilizing computerized accounting systems.

Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment.

If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment. Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $18.90 per hour. Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOT the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire
