Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and one year of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Higher education experience is highly preferred. Banner experience is preferred.
Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama's Office of Student Accounting is seeking to hire a Student Accounting Specialist. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
  • Assists in maintaining third party accounts receivable system.
  • Assists in processing refunds to students.
  • Monitors accounts that are paid by third parties.
  • Assists students, parents and third party vendors with payment processing.
  • Maintains relationships with third party agencies and complies with their reporting requirements, including invoice and payment submission through their web-based portals.
  • Notifies management of any regulatory or contract changes.
  • Coordinates with the Financial Aid Office regarding third party resources so they are properly accounted for in students' resources.
  • Maintains a general knowledge of all financial aid rules and regulations as they apply to grants, scholarships and loan programs.
  • Assists with student deposits and wire transfers, ensuring proper recording of deposits received and refunded deposits.
  • Maintains the return check procedures for bookstore charges applied to third party vendors.
  • Processes invoices for return of funds to third party vendors.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
  • Related duties as required.
