What unique challenges might a Temporary Account Manager face compared to a permanent position?

As a Temporary Account Manager, you may encounter the challenge of quickly building rapport with both clients and internal teams in a limited timeframe. You’ll need to rapidly learn company processes, client histories, and specific account goals to ensure a seamless transition and maintain service quality. Flexibility and adaptability are critical, as temporary roles often require you to step into ongoing projects and deliver results without the benefit of long-term relationship-building. Strong communication skills and proactive problem-solving can help you succeed and potentially open doors to more permanent opportunities.

What is a Temporary Account Manager?

A Temporary Account Manager is a professional hired on a short-term or contract basis to manage client accounts, maintain relationships, and ensure that clients' needs are met during a specific period. They typically step in to cover for permanent staff during absences, busy seasons, or special projects. Their responsibilities often include client communication, project coordination, reporting, and sometimes sales or upselling. Temporary Account Managers must quickly adapt to the company's processes and client expectations while delivering quality service. This role is common in industries such as marketing, advertising, and sales.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Temporary Account Manager, and why are they important?

A Temporary Account Manager should have a solid background in sales, client relationship management, and a relevant degree such as in business or marketing. Familiarity with CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and sometimes industry-specific tools is typically required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills help build trust and deliver results quickly in a short-term role. These skills and qualities ensure effective account handling, client satisfaction, and seamless business continuity during transitional periods.

Job description

Company description
On the day Fallon opened its doors without a single client, it did so under the headline, "A new advertising agency for companies that would rather outsmart the competition than outspend them."
More than 40 years later, and this mantra is unwavering. We are a creatively-led agency who pinned our public reputation on our commitment to smarts.
Smart brands create something of value in the world: entertainment value, social value, and belief value. Smart brands are additive to peoples' lives and to culture. They help build ideas in the world, and they leave something behind.
Overview
At Fallon, Account Managers are the heartbeat of the brand team - curious, creative-minded organizers who turn big ideas into flawless execution. You'll keep the work moving forward - on time, on budget, and always on brand - while partnering closely with strategy, creative, and production to bring bold, culture-driving campaigns to life.
You're the detail-keeper, dot-connector, and calm in the chaos. One moment you're reviewing timelines and legal clearances, the next you're helping shape the brand's POV or running a client meeting solo.
We're looking for someone with 1-3 years of agency experience who thrives on collaboration, takes initiative, and sweats the details.
Responsibilities
What you'll do:
  • Drive day-to-day project management across brand, retail, digital, social, and influencer work
  • Keep projects on track - from kickoff to final asset delivery
  • Manage estimates, budgets, timelines, and client communication
  • Partner with legal, business affairs, and finance to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Track competitive activity and contribute strategic insights
  • Coordinate internal resources and keep everything (and everyone) organized

Qualifications
Who You Are:
  • Agency-tested (1-3 years)
  • Organized, proactive, and calm under pressure
  • Detail-obsessed and solution-oriented
  • A self-starter who thrives in creative environment
