Academic Dean


The position for an Academic Dean will be available at East Central ISD for the 2026-2027 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. PRIMARY PURPOSE:ย  Primarily responsible for overseeing academic programs to ensure sound curriculum development and staff development in order to improve student achievement and meet the school wide goal of excellence for all. ย 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:




  1. Provide assistance to administrators and teachers in developing and maintaining exemplary instruction.
  2. Screen and recommend programs and methodologies for use.
  3. Provide assistance in developing and updating curriculum.
  4. Recommend expenditures relating to special materials, consultant services, and instructional materials.
  5. Provide liaison between school and central office instructional staff.
  6. Assist with the development and implementation of campus goals.
  7. Plan and present campus staff development.
  8. Assist in interpreting school programs to the community.
  9. Assume responsibility for curriculum materials.
  10. Assist Programs Facilitator with implementation of state testing systems including monitoring and tracking accelerated instruction.
  11. Manage campus tutoring by tracking and monitor student success
  12. Disperse curriculum information to staff.
  13. Participate in leadership meetings.
  14. Foster collegiality and team-building among staff.
  15. Work with administrators to effectively resolve conflicts.
  16. Facilitate the transition of students from middle to high school.
  17. Assist with coordination of the campus new teacher induction training.
  18. Oversee the development of the master schedule in collaboration with campus principal.
  19. Assist in the coordination of the campus dual credit program.
  20. Interpret and distribute state mandated test results.
  21. Collect and review course syllabi.
  22. Coordinate with Programs Facilitator regarding testing dates for Local Assessments and to prepare materials as needed.
  23. Supervise academic extracurricular activities.
  24. Assist principal in supervision, observation, and evaluation of teachers.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned.
  26. Serve as the academic expert during student meetings addressing Comprehensive Case Management such as MTSS and Accelerated Instruction
  27. Lead responsive services including tutorials by identifying students, maintaining documentation, and adjusting services to ensure student success.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education/Certification:
Master's Degree (preferably in Curriculum and Instruction)
Appropriate Texas Teacher Certificate
Texas Principal or Mid-Management Certificate (or eligible for Temporary Mid-Management Certification)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong organizational skills
Strong oral/written communication skills
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Experience:
5 years teaching experience ย 









EQUIPMENT USED:ย  Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment ย 
WORKING CONDITIONS:ย  Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:ย  Maintain emotional control under stress; may work prolonged or irregular hours.ย  Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment.ย  May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards. ย 
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:ย  220 days-basis
