Job description

We are a candle company located in Kansas City, KS. Yes, our candles are made here LOCALLY! As a full-service manufacturer of candles, wax melts, and home fragrance accessories, we always strive to improve our customers’ experience with our dynamic range of reliable products.
Position Overview
Performs activities pertaining to the receiving, storing manufacturing support and shipping of raw materials and imported finished goods using stand up forklift (may be a temporary exception for sit down certified operators.) Pick work orders, selecting raw materials necessary to produce finished goods. Keep track of inventory by item, location, lot number and quantity by use of RF scanning / Handheld equipment. Follow organized work processes to make sure inventory is accurate at all times. Operate a powered industrial truck safely and efficiently to move materials on docks and around production personnel. Willing and able to move from building to building daily or within the same shift as workloads vary.
Position Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
Hourly pay rate: $20.00
Essential Job Functions
  1. Ensure all products are received, stored, picked, and loaded onto transfer trailers safely, accurately and in a timely manner.
  2. Operate a forklift safely in environments that may include heavy foot traffic, pallet racking, and dock congestion.
  3. Use handheld RF scanners to perform computer transactions using barcodes and hand input to keep the computerized inventory system accurate and updated on a real time basis. Keep inventory accurate at all times by doing timely inventory inquires, stock changes, warehouse order picking and material issuing activities.
  4. Complete all paperwork neatly, legibly, and accurately. Work with leads, supervisors, and managers to identify and eliminate root causes of inventory discrepancies.
  5. Unload trailers and containers and store like items together.
  6. Pick work orders selecting, glass, lids, and corrugate packing materials to complete a work order. Items must be picked accurately by location, item and quantity, and transactions completed with a RF scanner to keep inventory live and accurate at all times.
  7. Stretch wrap completed pallets by hand or using automatic or semi-automatic machinery. Also need to keep paper records of order and pallet contents.
  8. Cross trained to perform key departmental tasks in a safe, competent and capable manner. Tasks include receiving and putting away raw materials and finished goods, production material handler, raw material warehouse picking, receiving clerk, Inventory cycle count administrator, reintegration warehouse coordinator, Sales order picking, and cross dock material handler.
  9. Willingness and ability to move from function to function in multiple buildings from day to day or within a shift as workloads vary, often without notice.
  10. Work as a team within your department and with other departments in a professional, friendly, and enthusiastic manner and provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
  11. Perform cycle counts with high level of accuracy on raw materials, finished goods, and work in process.
  12. Able to work full time. Always be early or on time and do not miss work unless absolutely necessary and notified your supervisor or manager in advance as well as notify the company by leaving a voicemail on call in line.
  13. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule and daily or weekend overtime, possibly on short notice.
  14. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  1. Stand up forklift certification. (a sit-down forklift can be used as a temporary measure, but employee must accept training and work quickly toward stand-up certification and usage).
  2. Ability to operate RF scanning/handheld computer bar coding device and key input.
  3. Able to pass basic math test including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and number recognition.
  4. Knowledge of shipping practices and standards.
  5. Detail orientated and highly accurate.
Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to maintain single-task focus and situational awareness.
  2. Low sensitivity to highly fragranced environment.
  3. Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  4. Position requires the ability to stand; walking around distribution center; lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds on an as needed basis; operating forklift while lifting materials.
