Job description

Summary

Leads are responsible production line employees; this includes staffing, training, achieving efficiency standards, insuring a quality product is produced, and achieving scheduled completion dates. You will track downtime and corrective actions coordinated with the Manufacturing Supervisor. You will work with the Assistant Supervisor to insure training is achieved, work orders are communicated, setup are completed, and the right tooling and fixtures are on line for the appropriate jobs. You will be required to collect and report on key production data as defined by the Manufacturing Supervisor. You will be responsible for 5S and continuous improvement activities on their respective lines and will provide support for department and site 5S and continuous improvement efforts.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe work environment by communicating safety requirements, auditing, tracking, providing feedback and corrective actions to employees and management. Maximize line efficiency with minimal direction.
  • Follow 5S guidelines
  • Maintain clean work environment, report all unsafe work areas, and clear all lines of obstacles and trash
  • Expectations are to constantly observe and promote changes and improvements
  • Performs activities of candle maker when assigned to assist or relieve on an individual basis to avoid shutdown.
  • Ability to take weights & enter information accurately into QA weight database
  • Make necessary valve adjustments when required
  • Data entry into computer system, logging pallets, conducting in process inspections.
  • Working with the Pour Technician to set up machines and equipment; communicate with Pour Technician to assure timely and accurate retrieval of necessary materials to maintain production levels.
  • Read / understand MAP as well as deviations if necessary. Organize and monitor work flow while achieving quality, efficiency & daily goals.
  • Maintain/verify line data entry: weights collection, glass temps, pour temps, rejection reports, WO signoffs
  • Ability to lead & direct all production line operators as well as resolve personnel issues on line
  • Flexibility to run ALL lines as required (A-J)
  • Knowledge of wax types & characteristics
  • Ability to identify issues quickly, identify root cause, and implement solutions as needed. Coordinate corrective action with minimal supervision
  • Work well with multiple departments
  • Ensure all people throughout line are rotated systematically for cross training purposes as well as safety and ergonomic reasons
  • Knowledge and ability to operate various machines. Ability to utilize hand jack when necessary. Use and knowledge of all hand tools as needed
  • Communicate equipment issues to maintenance & supervisors

Education required

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

Range of Experience:

  • 1 year of related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous supervisory experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge of products manufactured including health and safety regulations
  • Ability to use various machines and practical skills
  • Ability to follow and execute instructions
  • Good communication skills and the ability to be accurate, patient, and responsible
