Apex Placement & Consulting has partnered with an established automotive manufacturing organization seeking to add a CMM Technician/Operator to their growing Quality team. In this role, you'll be responsible for programming and operating CMM equipment, performing dimensional inspections, maintaining calibration and gauge certification records, troubleshooting quality concerns, and supporting IATF 16949 quality standards. WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE:- Program, operate, and maintain Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment to inspect and verify product quality.

  • Perform dimensional inspections using CMMs, optical comparators, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Develop and maintain CMM programs in accordance with GD&T and customer print requirements.
  • Conduct first article inspections, capability studies, and dimensional analysis.
  • Maintain calibration records and certification documentation for gauges and measuring equipment.
  • Manage the gauge certification database and coordinate calibration schedules.
  • Troubleshoot product and process quality issues through CMM studies and data analysis.
  • Design, develop, and support inspection gauges to ensure compliance with GD&T and GR&R requirements.
  • Generate inspection reports and communicate findings to internal teams and customers.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, repairs, and procurement of CMM-related equipment and supplies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, inspection methods, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 quality standards and company quality procedures.
  • Promote safe work practices and maintain an organized CMM laboratory.
  • Perform additional quality-related duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:- Minimum 5 years of experience programming and operating CMM equipment.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing quality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with CMM programming software and dimensional inspection techniques.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and quality management software such as GageTrak.
  • Experience with gauge design, gauge building, and tool building is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude including geometry, trigonometry, and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience- Experience supporting IATF 16949 certified manufacturing facilities.

  • Knowledge of GR&R, capability studies, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience working with automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Familiarity with quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
