Food Service Worker

Locations: North Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, James Island, John's Island, West Ashley
Job Type: Temporary

Pay: Hourly Range ($15-$17 per hour)

Schedule: Primarily weekdays, 6-hour shifts during school hours (7:30 AM - 2:00 PM)

Job Summary

Seeking Food Service Workers to support K-12 schools throughout the Charleston, SC area. This role involves preparing and serving meals to students, processing meal transactions, and maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing quality food service in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals following USDA guidelines.
  • Handle cash transactions and operate the point-of-sale system.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, including kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Follow food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices.
  • Adhere to work schedules and complete assigned cleaning tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Services Manager or Assistant Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience in food service, cafeteria operations, or a similar role preferred
  • Ability to handle cash transactions and learn to use a POS system
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations (Food Handler certification a plus)
  • Customer service oriented with a positive attitude
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Passion for serving in an educational environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform kitchen duties
  • Selected candidates MUST provide proof of a negative TB test before starting work
  • PASS a background check.
