Job description

Position Summary:

Manages the research, development and engineering efforts of our portable restrooms division. Coordinating the engineering support of existing products and development of future products to align with company directives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the implementation of product design throughout the lifecycle of products, and supports the development of department policies, objectives, and initiatives.
  • Oversees the design, development, and improvement of new and existing products and product lines, including plastic portable toilets, sinks, dispensers, accessories, IoT devices, etc.
  • Mentors, coaches, and motivates engineers and product development personnel within the department to ensure that necessary skills, tools, and processes are learned and maintained.
  • Works closely with upper management, sales management, customers, and other teams to understand customer needs, market trends, and business goals, and translates these goals into product requirements and specifications.
  • Manages departmental projects, developing and adhering to milestones and timelines.
  • Assesses design feasibility and identifies optimization opportunities, providing solutions, communicating findings, and influencing decision-making with senior management.
  • Leads the team in monitoring and measuring product performance, user feedback, and customer satisfaction, leveraging data-driven insights to support product decisions and improvements.
  • Helps develop and implement processes and procedures for the inspection of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to our engineering specifications.
  • Ensures that equipment, materials, and products comply with all relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages resource allocation for the department.
  • Closely reviews and recommends improvements to part designs for several manufacturing processes including: blow-molding, thermoforming, injection molding, metal stamping, plastic extrusion, ETC.
  • Review tooling design for production.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position manages personnel within the Research and Development, and Engineering departments, including designers, engineers, technicians, temporary workers, and assigned contractors.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • This position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of managerial or supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Product Design and Engineering.
  • Familiarity with required certifications and trainings pertaining to the industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in prototyping and product testing.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in detailed plastic part design and manufacturing.
