Job description

Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Maple Grove, Minnesota
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9/80 Schedule
Pay Range: $54-59/hr
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, analysis, testing, and production of complex mechanical systems and hardware for advanced defense applications.
This position will work on sophisticated mechanical products including ammunition handling systems, gun systems, missile launchers, structural assemblies, mechanisms, and related military hardware. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will contribute throughout the engineering lifecycle, from mechanical design and modeling through technical analysis, prototype/manufacturing support, testing, and product assurance.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in mechanical or aerospace engineering, hands-on experience developing mechanical designs using PTC Creo, and the ability to translate engineering requirements into manufacturable hardware.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, analyze, design, and develop mechanical products and systems, including ammunition handling systems, structures, gun systems, missile launchers, mechanisms, and related defense hardware.
  • Develop and maintain mechanical parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings using PTC Creo Parametric 11.
  • Create moderately complex solid models and mechanical designs in support of new and existing products.
  • Perform engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, testing, and product assurance activities.
  • Conduct technical analyses, calculations, testing, and evaluations to resolve moderately complex mechanical engineering problems.
  • Analyze and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, models, technical documentation, and test results.
  • Ensure mechanical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
  • Support the development and evaluation of mechanical components, assemblies, structures, and mechanisms throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Work directly with internal and external manufacturing shops to support fabrication and ensure engineering designs can be successfully produced.
  • Investigate design and manufacturing issues and develop technically sound solutions using established engineering principles and practices.
  • Develop new technical documentation and revise existing engineering documentation as required.
  • Provide technical input for engineering reports, technical papers, design documentation, and presentations.
  • Present technical information related to engineering and production support activities when required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, test, and program teams to resolve technical challenges and support program objectives.

Required Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to DoD project and ITAR requirements.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Professional-level knowledge of mechanical engineering design, development, and analytical principles.
  • Experience creating moderately complex 3D solid models, mechanical designs, assemblies, and engineering drawings using CAD software.
  • Experience with PTC Pro/ENGINEER (Pro-E) and/or PTC Creo strongly preferred.
  • Ability to solve moderately complex mechanical design and development problems using sound engineering judgment and analytical techniques.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, models, and technical documentation.
  • Experience working directly with internal or external machine shops, fabrication teams, or manufacturing organizations to produce mechanical designs.
  • Understanding of manufacturing considerations and the ability to develop practical, manufacturable engineering solutions.
  • Experience supporting engineering analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and product development activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical information.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing mechanical hardware for defense, aerospace, military vehicle, weapons, munitions, or other highly regulated applications.
  • Experience with PTC Creo Parametric, particularly recent versions of the software.
  • Mechanical design experience involving mechanisms, structural assemblies, ammunition handling equipment, launch systems, or gun systems.
  • Experience supporting prototype fabrication, production, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with military specifications and engineering standards applicable to defense hardware.
  • Experience supporting mechanical products throughout the complete design-to-production lifecycle.
  • Experience developing technical reports, engineering presentations, and product documentation.
