Job description

LabCorp is seeking aIT Technical Specialistto join our teaminBurlington, NC!


We are looking for a talented Developer with exceptional analytical skills and a strong understanding of SQL to join our development team. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with COBOL and experience working with SAP Crystal and WEBI applications. This role will also involve preparing detailed reports, so experience in report writing is essential. You will be responsible for working on a variety of projects, analyzing data, creating optimized SQL queries, and providing technical solutions to support business goals.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 9:00am-5:00pm, on call rotation including weekend coverage.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain applications and systems using COBOL, SAS, and other programming languages as needed.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and analysis.
  • Conduct data analysis and provide actionable insights based on findings.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and develop reports that align with business needs.
  • Design, implement, and test new features and improvements to existing systems.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports, presenting data in a clear and actionable format.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to SQL, COBOL, and SAS.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve system performance and deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in development, SQL, and report writing.

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3 or more years software/IT technical experience
  • 1 year or more experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and reporting tools.
  • 1 year or more experience with Lab data and/or Healthcare industry.
  • 1 year or more experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and modern software development practices is a plus.

PreferredQualification:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL with extensive experience in writing complex queries.
  • Familiarity with COBOL and its applications in legacy systems.
  • Experience with Python for data processing, automation, and scripting.
  • Strong experience in report writing and presenting data insights to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and provide performance optimization solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
