Job description

Temporary Staff Position at International Arctic Research Center (IARC)

Are you interested in supporting research, departmental projects, or office operations at the International Arctic Research Center (IARC) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks? IARC creates a temporary applicant pool for the academic year, and multiple departments may draw from this pool to fill a variety of roles. These opportunities offer hands-on experience in a dynamic research environment, with responsibilities that vary based on departmental needs. Applications are reviewed on an as-needed basis as positions become available. If you're adaptable, organized, and eager to contribute to meaningful work, we encourage you to apply.

This temporary staff position offers the opportunity to support a range of research, administrative, and operational activities at IARC. In this role, you will assist research faculty and staff with tasks that contribute to ongoing projects and departmental initiatives. Successful candidates will have relevant administrative, clerical, technical, or professional experience and a flexible, proactive approach. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritize, exercise sound judgment, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

All temporary positions require at least a High School diploma or equivalent. The level of experience, education, training, licensing, and/or certification depends upon the position needs.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Fairbanks (Troth Yeddha') campus in Fairbanks, flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This position may be part time or full time, non-exempt (hourly), and term-funded. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Compensation Schedule, this is a temporary role with compensation aligned to the responsibilities and requirements of the position.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year. Please note that this position will be closed on June 30, 2027 at 11:55 PM Alaskan Standard Time.
