The Role As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a key role in leading ecological projects, collaborating closely with specialists across Ecology, Hydrology, Construction, and Aquatics.

You will scope, design, and lead surveys, ensuring projects are completed to the highest ecological and regulatory standards. With the full backing of senior leadership and business support staff, you'll have the freedom to shape the direction of the Ecology team while solving complex challenges and strengthening client relationships. If you're passionate about mentoring, you'll also have the chance to line manage and support graduates and consultants, empowering the next generation of ecologists.

What You'll Do We are looking for a Senior Ecologist to contribute to a wide-ranging client base by: Leading ecology projects, including: Ecological Impact Assessments Habitats Regulations Assessments Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments Protected Species Surveys and Reporting Preliminary Ecological Appraisals Protected Species Licensing and Mitigation Strategies Generating business opportunities and preparing fee proposals. Engaging with subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams. Managing project timelines and coordinating with clients, internal teams, and external contractors.

Mentoring and supporting colleagues while developing company processes and efficiencies. Ensuring all work aligns with CIEEM, IEMA, CIWEM, and IFM professional standards. What We're Looking For Essential: Degree or Master's in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.

CIEEM Membership, ideally working towards Chartership. Strong survey skills, including UK Habitat Classification and specialist species surveys. Holder of one or more Protected Species Licences.

Advanced understanding of the EIA process and methodologies. Strong knowledge of legislative and planning policy frameworks. Excellent report writing and review skills.

Proven experience in preparing fee proposals and quotations. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. High-level written and verbal communication skills.

Full, clean UK driving licence. Desirable: CSCS/EMSS Safety Passport, LANTRA 4x4 training, Emergency Outdoor First Aid, experience with PM software (WorkflowMax preferred). What's on Offer.
