Job description

Beginnings Credit Union (Beginnings) is seeking an energetic individual to fill the position of a Teller Supervisor. This individual will supervise the activities of the teller operations area by assigning tasks, cross-training, facilitating one on one coaching sessions, participating in hiring and on-boarding process of new hires, attending trainings/seminars, assisting with complex transactions and sensitive member relations issues, and explaining policies and procedures to members.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform all necessary teller functions as required to successfully serve Beginnings members.
  • Prepares weekly and Saturday schedule for tellers in conjunction with Branch Manager.
  • Facilitates one on one coaching sessions, recommends training, areas of development, evaluates and documents employee performance and assists manager with completing annual evaluations.
  • Responsible to cross-train tellers to have a thorough understanding of all day-to-day tasks.
  • Facilitates regularly scheduled teller huddles and staff meetings.
  • Approves timecards for tellers and verifies accuracy and PTO usage.
  • Identifies performance problems and provides recommendation for action to Branch Manager, VP Member Experience, and Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Responsible for department operating within the established guidelines, following all approved policies and procedures. Takes immediate action to resolve all compliance issues.
  • Manages branch cash orders, incoming and outgoing shipments, and vault balancing.
  • Maintains thorough understanding of Cash Recyclers including but not limited to balancing, replenishment, & auditing.
  • Maintains thorough understanding of ATM/VTM functions including but not limited to balancing, replenishment, and trouble-shooting.
  • Performs required monthly branch self- audits, cash counts, vault verifications and security audits.
  • Monitors check and cash differences to mitigate risk and loss to the branch and Beginnings by identifying and coaching tellers on fraudulent and counterfeit transactions.
  • Motivates tellers to make qualified referrals, and cross-sells credit union products and services to satisfy member needs referring them to MRRs, UAs, Wealth Management, Mortgage, and Business Lending as appropriate.
  • Maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of Beginnings policies, procedures, and federal regulations.
  • Supports the daily activity of the tellers, including but not limited to, providing overrides, assisting with referral opportunities, interacting with members, and making exceptions when warranted.
  • Assists with outages by providing support in researching and correcting transaction errors.
  • Maintains thorough understanding of branch technology.
  • Monitors teller activities for compliance within established policies, procedures, and Federal regulations.
  • Verifies and researches any identified night depository discrepancies.
  • Completes end of day tasks and responsibilities to verify and ensure branch is in balance.
  • Performs overrides for teller transactions, understanding due diligence, responsibility, and liability associated with all overrides.
  • Understand and utilize branch operations policies and procedures, including maintaining accurate records and logs.
  • Execute all safety and security procedures established by management and organization.
  • Balances and maintains an accurate cash drawer by verifying correct processing and posting of transactions.
  • Supports oversight of branch in the absence of the Branch Manager.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • One to three years of similar or related experience.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • The ability to train, motivate and develop a strong team.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule Monday through Saturday.
